Type 1: Hubby won't go to docs

@sullybear I'm so sad to read this. It does indeed sound like he has given up and you are backed into a corner. I'd get your gp or dsn round to talk to him as that will at least take some of the pressure off your shoulders. I really hope he comes round and gets some medical help. Please feel...

    Type 1: Work related stress

Thanks so much @Juicyj for that advice. I will definitely start to keep a note in regards to the bullying. Our nursing home is being bought over by a new company with new hr so I will try and speak to them once they are in place. With regards to the pump..the waiting list in our trust is 9...

    Type 1: Work related stress

I should say I'm often able to check and correct for example I might quickly check around 11am be say 15mmols take 4u to correct check again but I never go below 11mmols I think it might be the adrenaline and stress hormones. Should I take a bigger correction on workdays? I'd also thought of...

    Type 1: Work related stress

Hi everyone. I'm really struggling with managing my diabetes at work. I'm a nurse in a dementia unit. I'm on mdi and recently have worked hard to test that I'm on the correct basal dose and that my ratios are correct. I have two problems. 1) my job in itself is very stressful. Due to the...

    Freestyle libre newbie

I've just ordered myself the starter pack. My next review at the clinic is end of January so I'm hoping to collect information to share with the consultant to gain better control (hoping to apply for adoption and need to lower my a1c so that's my motivation). My problem is I'm very bad with...

    Insulin to carb ratio

I am more insulin resistant in the morning so need 2u to 10g but lunch and evening meal I take 1.5u to 10g. I'm trying to exercise more and hope that will result in me being able to decrease my ratio

    Help with morning bg

I have been using split doses for around two years now. As I say I have good numbers the days I'm not working as I don't have the stress tummy putting me off my breakfast. Have been having a few nuts first thing on workdays the past couple of days and although I'm forcing them down it seems to...

    Baked beans

So I repeated lunch today. 5.9 pre lunch. Boloused for the amount on the tin. 4hours post lunch 6.2 so I guess everyone is different but at least I know now :)

    Baked beans

At the dafne course we were advised as the beans are low gi it's the sauce we are counting. The dafne book advises 1cp (10g carbs) per 200g beans. The tin says 30g (3cps) for 200g. Although I learned so much at the course and it has brought me better control, this particular piece of advice I...

    Baked beans

So instead of trusting my instinct I went with the dafne professionals. 6.2 pre lunch 14 now 1 hour post lunch. I'm so cross [emoji34]

    Baked beans

I've taken the dafne advice and took 1u for the half tin. Will keep an eye on my bg!

    Baked beans

How do you all carb count your baked beans. Dafne tells me that 200g has 10g carbs due to the beans being a slow release carb but the back of the tin says 30g carbs. This is my first time having beans since doing the course but beforehand I went with the 30g carbs and don't think I'd any hypos?

    Feeling good :)

@Juicyj it's amazing how the high numbers effect mental health as well as the physical! So much easier to feel on top of my 'other issues' when my numbers are good! Thank you so much @yingtong @mist oh I completely agree that full moon is a time to hide especially when you work in a dementia...

    Help with morning bg

Sorry to ask all these questions but really trying to get on top of things and this forum is the best! On a normal day my fbg will around 7.5ish now that goes OK until it's a work day. On a work day I face a lot of stress and anxiety. I just cannot face breakfast on a work day. So my fbg will...

    Dafne help!!

I find it pretty straight forward to be honest. 50g carbs = 5cps 75g = 7.5cps etc. It's just the working out the math when the nutritional information isn't available. I had chip shop chips tonight (not great I know) and the dafne book gave carb information for a 240g portion but I only ate 150g...
