    Correction doses

So I take on average 60u total a day between levimer and novorapid so 1u should bring me down 1.6mmol. How long should it take to work if no food in the system? Or I guess that's an individual response? Also does my carb/insulin ratio have an effect? What I mean is in the morning I take 2u to...

Type 1: Diabetic nurses - good or bad?

The diabetes nurse at my gp clinic is useless. Shockingly bad so I don't see her anymore. The dsn at my hospital clinic is fantastic. She is type 1 herself. I see her 6 monthly after I see my consultant but can ring her at anytime [emoji4]

how does T1D affect your moods?

Highs- chest pains, thirst, blurred vision, headache, tearful, moody, angry, frustrated, fatigued, and after correcting my muscles ache. Lows- palpitations, headache, sweating, shaking, dizzy. Lows tend to affect me physically while the highs affect me more psychologically.

    Correction doses

Can anyone tell me how I properly calculate how much insulin I need to bring me down with a correction dose and how many carbs i need to bring me up from a hypo? Can it be precise or is it just a rough guess? I usually take 4u if im over 10. And take 30g carbs for a hypo but when talking to my...

    Anxiety

Hi @Michik! I remember feeling like you when I was a teenager! I'd bet most teenagers feel that way if they answered honestly. Everyone is scared of asking someone out trust me! @azure suggests hanging out with her on a casual basis I think that could work and you'd feel more comfortable once...

Type 1: Travelling without a letter?

Agree with @slip my gp wanted me to pay but my dsn provided free of charge and on the day. I would say though I've travelled a fair bit and have never been asked to produce it.

    Type 1s: Advice wanted!

Hi Lynsey! I was a big comfort/emotional eater. I was diagnosed 6 years ago with type 1 and shortly after with depression. I am infertile and my husband and I will have to adopt and this also caused added stress. So the last 6 years i gained 3 stone through binging. My diabetic control was...

Type 1: Crumpets made my blood sugar shoot up?

I can't eat crumpets as they spike me so much! 1 with 20g carbs will put me to the high teens whereas 20g of white bread wouldn't. I also can't eat cornflakes but seem to be OK with other cereals with the same carb amount. Mysterious

    Type 1: Exhausted

Martin @rockape37 I started my sensor 2 weeks ago this coming Friday and whilst hoovering just now I banged into the wall and knocked it off. I am so relieved. I'd become a bit obsessed with it and put pressure on myself. I'm going to give it a break for a week or so to see if I can make a...

    Type 1: Exhausted

My bg was 9.7 at 9am so I took 4u to correct and 7u for the 35g carbs. I kept checking for the arrow to go down on the libre but after 30mins it hadn't and I panicked with having the iob and ate then. 1hour post it was 16.2 and now it's 14.6 Should I have waited longer? I had it in the back of...
