"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

I was told by the diabetes nurse that the Tresiba was active for a little over 24 hours. If it is, as you say, up to 3 days, that makes a difference. We are now just over the 72 hours though and BG is still lowish - just dropped back into the 4's after being at 5.0. 4th option, I realise, is...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

It didn't go so well overnight. Couldn't get to sleep and at 02.45 I looked at the clock and decided to get up if I was still awake at 03.00. Next thing I knew it was 03.21 and I thought the whole diarrhea episode was starting up again. It was only minor though, but still, I decided to stay...

I'm not sure what to do. At 3.20 am I had to get up - I thought the diarrhea was starting up again, but it was a false alarm, but I was awake by then, so I stayed up. BG has remained at 5.0-5.2 for the last 21/2 hours despite having coffee with milk. It went to that after eating 2 low carb...

The worst appears to be over. I managed a soft boiled egg and 2 very low carb crackers about 8 pm. Stomach a bit sore as a result but nothing more serious.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I've just been rehydrating with water - couldn't do anything about broth (actually forgot I have some Bovril in the cupboard which Neil could have made up for me). Not sure I could have stomached it though. Managed a small amount of scrambled egg this morning with just a little stomach pain...

Afraid we don't have that. I could call 111 but am unwilling to do that. I'll just wait it out and see which way it goes. Stoic - that's me. Not much choice.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Ouch! Horrible couple of days. I was really ill. Odd thing was my BG just didn't want to come up into the 4's and I spent much of the time responding to my Libre alarm. Nothing to eat for 2 days, of course - other than the toffees that at least bring BG up temporarily. I've gone right off...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I ordered a couple of vines from Amazon, to plant in front of my old Leyland Cypress which is dead from the bottom to halfway up but very lively above that. I thought a couple of vines climbing through it would disguise it. What I ordered was: one ivy and one clematis. What has just arrived...

BG coming back into pretty tight control now so today's plan was to have one, small, lc cracker with some eggs. However, something (maybe keto flu) has raised its ugly head. Stomach v sore and diarrhea - not sure that those are symptoms of keto flu. Anyway, changed plan to eating nothing but...

4.5 today at 05.00. Feeling really grotty (must be "keto flu" although I'm not sure that that usually includes diarrhea) and have eaten noting so far. Plan was to introduce a very little carb element today. Plan B is to eat nothing - everything that hits my stomach, hurts it. Just having...

That's hard @Peanut 234. Still, better to know what you are looking at, and to feel able to trust your consultant.

Lovely to find a relative, Gennepher, especially when you didn't know they existed. So glad for you that you have an idea of where you come from now.

Trouble is, with the Libre packaging, it has to be taken off undamaged, because part of it is used as an applicator for the sensor. Loads of cardboard here with all the Amazon packages. A Stanley knife is an essential in this kitchen.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

5.8 at 03.30 today. I was surprised because it was 4.7 when I went to bed and I thought it might go lower. Been in the 4's and 3's most of the day. Discovery - eating eggs doesn't require a dose of insulin, although eating liver and bacon does, Can't be any carbs in liver or bacon, or even...

3 egg omelette for breakfast. I was going to put cheese in it, but my hand was too sore to use the grater, so it was just a plain omelette. 2nd meal should be salmon but it is in the fridge in the back porch and Neil is working on a project there and blocking access, so it might be sardines...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I had such a clever idea. Since I don't know how to encrypt a file on my pc, I keep all my passwords in a notebook but it was getting very grotty with use and the pages were becoming quite fragile. I decided to key them all in on a word processing file and save them to a memory stick where...

Breakfast: liver and bacon. There's still some liver and 3 slices of bacon left but I'm not sure I can face it again tomorrow. 2nd meal will be sausages - high meat content but still some carb in them. We'll see what effect that has on BG. So far it has settled in the 5's. Arthritis flare...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

5.7 at 03.20 while in bed waiting for the ability to get up. Legs out of the bed and sitting on the edge - helpful liver gave me a boost up to 7.1. Down to 6.5 by the time I struggled through to the kitchen - about 5 minutes later. Not sure which one is FBG. I seem to be in the middle of an...
