Moderator Elections 2018 - Nominations close Midnight Friday

Please remove me, as after my husbands death I cant be impartial at all. I am fighting the NHS and really haven't time or patience to do the role of a mod justice. Wishing well to other nominated persons and all those finding time to moderate currently.

    New to insulin

Levels do need to lower down to under 8.0 but its hard for any nurse to set up a starting dosage... it all depends upon weight, activity, lifestyle etc. We are all unique. Whoever cooks and feeds needs to get their head around carb counting as that will help enormously. If hubby drives he must...

    New to insulin

It sounds like hubby is an insulin dependent patient. So really very little difference between a T1 and T2 in this scenario. Your husband will not feel better until his bloods return to under 8.0. And this should be slowly done to reduce the risk of retinopathy. He needs to have a 3 daily chat...

Please have your T1 specialists show you how to start taking your own control.. You are right that you need to up insulin. Currently you would appear to be not helped by having snacks... but when you have been taught how to carb count, adjust doses then snacks for T1's can be fitted in if you...

Ask your diabetes team about how you learn to adjust your dosss yourself... They should be grateful that a newly diagnosed wants to do this!! Jyst say to them that you want to learn as you realise that you have to be able to do this long term to look after yourself with minimal health...
