    packed hams / meats

We often use a brand called Finnebrogue who sell the 'Naked' range of bacon, sausages and ham. Their products are produced without the use of nitrites, which I think are the most problematic substance used in processed meat.

    Quick lunch?

You can get Livlife from Waitrose or some branches of Co-op (assuming you're in the UK?). It only has 3.4g of carbs per slice, and gives me great blood glucose readings. I load up the freezer with it when I find it in stock!

    Quick lunch?

Have you tried any low-carb breads to see if you tolerate them? I eat Livlife bread for lunch most days; it was a game-changer for me.

    Feeling Low

Hi Denmo, welcome! I had gestational diabetes followes by borderline prediabetes, but it's now under control (sorry, I'm one of those annoying ones!). It's not always been easy, but I'd love to share some of the things I've found helpful. Sorry if this is just repeating things you've already...

    Blood glucose not going down

Thanks so much to you all for your thoughts. I had initially tried upping the fats and proteins to halt the weight loss, but I seem to be a bottomless pit where they're concerned! I was eating tonnes of nuts, cheese, olives etc and still losing at least 0.2 kilos a day. I paid for a consultation...

    Blood glucose not going down

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone more knowledgeable could shed some light on an issue I'm having, please? Pancreas has “shrunk” !

Roy Taylor's research showed that a shrunken pancreas is common in people with Type 2 - but that with two years of remission, it can regrow. I found this very encouraging. For some reason the forum isn't letting me post a link to the research, but give it a Google!

    Can't stop losing weight

Hi all, I'm after a bit of advice, please. Sounds an odd problem, but I can't seem to stop losing weight! I recently lowered my HbA1c from 41 to 31 by going low-carb (about 50-55g a day) and running two/three times a week. I also dropped 15kg. Now I'm actually below my target weight (hit a new...

Thanks so much, all - and sorry to hear about your experience with pizza, @MrsA2; how disappointing! I had some carrot with dinner tonight, so will see shortly if the meter says yes or no! :)

Good result - thank you, forum members

Hi there, I joined this forum recently and have spent a lot of time 'lurking' and reading posts. Three months ago my HbA1c was 41, so borderline prediabetic. I started eating low carb and running two or three times a week. The advice on this forum from admins and other members has been...

    Diabetes at altitude!

Hi there, A very random query, but I thought I'd post on the offchance that anyone has any experience of this. My husband is thinking of applying for a job that would involve us all moving to a city at very high altitude for several years (Bogota in Colombia). I was just wondering if this...
