    Creatine and glucose metabolism

@Rustytypin, yes as always, it’s individual. I do a lot of exercise and the results seem to favour creatine along with exercise. I take 5 mg daily which is what my Dr advised.

    Creatine and glucose metabolism

Yes, @Bcgirl I agree, it could be the depleting muscle mass that adds to glucose problems, so as creatine helps build muscle mass, along with exercise , the results may be a greater uptake in blood sugars.

    Creatine and glucose metabolism

@lessci I take the pure powder form no added flavours- Creatine Monohydrate - so it’s water soluble. I take 5 mg per day. I stir mine into a small amount of milk.

    Creatine and glucose metabolism

This maybe of interested for some if you. I’ve been taking 5mg of creatine per day for a couple of months now. My Dr suggested I take it as I was experiencing some brain fog due to the statins I’m on. He told me he takes creatine and has found it makes a difference on his own cognition. I am...

    Hypo awareness?

For one reason or another I get low blood sugars. I’ve had them when not taking drugs that may cause hypoglycaemia as well as my current drug Bupropion which stimulates insulin secretion and is a known risk for causing hypoglycaemia. Looking at my CGM Libre 3 records I have had 5 recorded low...

    That’s great @Button43 .

How to treat a hypo type 2

@Beach Hut I see from your previous post Oct 23 you are on Liraglutide. According to Drugs.com this drug can cause low blood sugars. Are you on any other blood sugar lowering meds? This is an extract from the Drugs.com website. “If you are between the ages of 18 and 60, take no other...

Great news @Craigmartin . You must be well pleased. :)

    hey

Exercise - @Richmy, apologies if you have gone down this route, have you spoken to a physiotherapist about the types of exercises you can do? I have polyarthritis, which means none of my joints are free of arthritis and it includes my lumber and thoracic spine , so I understand part of your...

    Confused

Just a small point on blood sugar readings. Our blood sugars fluctuate minute by minute, day by day. They are never the same at any given time, as there are so many factors that influence blood sugar levels, ; sleep; food choices and compositions; hormone levels; physical activity; stressors...

Type 2 Gliclizide, hypos and preparation

Congratulation @Ravenstar on your HbAc1 results. That’s great to hear. When you feel shaky, is it low blood sugars ? Do you use a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) as well as your Glucose meter? If you don’t and you just use your glucose meter, it might be worth trying out a CGM for a couple of...

    Night shifts

@grantg and @LouT I make taco shells out of melted cheddar cheese. I grate some cheddar in a pan, let it cool a bit then I put the warm cheese pancake into a taco mould. It looks like a corn taco, but it’s cheese. Once hardened I fill it with lettuce, tomatoes etc.

Hi I’m julieclarke I’ve joined to find out more about T2 diabetes

I love grapes @julieclarke , but they are little balls of sugar. Every now and then I’ll pick out a very small quantity of grapes at the supermarket. I only put a few in a bag so I don’t eat too many.

    Diabetic neuropathy

It sounds very challenging @rbk42 . It cannot be easy at any level. Just to mention the carers help my senior to do her exercises, else she wouldn’t do them. We have a special mattress that inflates and deflates to stop bed sores, she also has special cushions that are supposedly there to...

    Diabetic neuropathy

I’m sorry to hear what you and your mom are going through. Do you have access to a physiotherapist. Even for just a consult? Keeping your mom’s joint muscles mobile, I would think, is imperative. There are likely exercises you can help your mom with to help her retain some joint mobility and...

    Lowest ever HBA1C result.

Just to add my thoughts @Rachox, if your blood sugars are stable and have been for some time on your meds, then I can understand you thinking why fix what’s not broken. However, if your blood sugars are on a downward trajectory on your current meds , then that needs monitoring to see if that...

    About to start Insulin

I agree with @lovinglife @Jordy McKirgan . 2 years is a very short period of time from diagnosis to insulin for T2. Without having a C-Peptide test there is no way of knowing how much insulin your pancreas is producing. I would ask your Dr for a C-Peptide test. C-Peptides are tested rather than...

What info should I have received on being diagnosed with type 2

Hi @TrishMabey. It’s always a shock to get a diabetes diagnosis. All too often patients don’t really get a whole lot of information and help around a Type 2 diabetes diagnosis. Many people turn to sites like this for advice and support. Here you will find members who have been in the exact...

    COVID vaccine

I’m in Canada so different rules. We still have access to free Flu and Covid shots , depending on your province. I’m in B.C. so thankfully it’s still free. It goes by age. At the moment it’s 65 upwards, but I get to go early as I had sepsis pneumonia a few years back , so that is considered a...

CGM v finger stick reading differences

As @Rachox says there is an allowable difference of 15% +/- on any device. There variables to take into account for measuring devices. The master devices which are the most accurate, are kept in climate and temperature controlled conditions. So there will always be some measure of inaccuracy for...
