I was diagnosed by a random test. I had to have blood tests for something unrelated, and got told my sugar was 12.8! I had no idea I was having a sugar test done, but my GP said whenever they do blood tests for anything they do a sugar one. I should think the Government's told them to do it. I...

Thanks alot for your reply Whitbyjet, It just helps to know, so I'm not thinking it's odd or too unusual. Yeah, he's pleased I'm able to help him, especially as his sugar levels are high. I'm certainly going with him on his 1st visits to get results and getting sorted out with treatment etc...

Ever since I've been taking Metformin, and no matter what type, it has a taste of like mould, fusty. It doesn't happen always but most times. Do any of you taste this? Helena.

Ha ha! I must be the exception to the rule then, as I so often am. My Metformin was gradually increased over a period of 3 months. I ended up on 2000mg per day. It took 2 and a half months from starting it, before my BS came down and became stable. Helena.
