FreeStyle Libre acclaimed as game changer in an independent assessment

I have been self funding for about 18 months, my NHS area will not prescribe it. I love the convenience of this device, especially during the night. The majority of the time it is accurate, have had a few odd readings. The main problem at the moment is supply. When Ordering direct from...

Freestyle Libre - Does anyone put it anywhere other than their arm?

I wear mine on the side of my hip so it is covered by my bikini, I also cover it so I don't catch it when going to the loo. My reading are better than when I wore it on my arm. I kept knocking them off when on my arm so for me this is much better. Good luck.

    Freestyle libre reliability

I find the readings are inconsistent, sometimes spot on, other times way out. However I find it really useful when I am doing my exercise classes and during the night, so much better to be able to scan in bed than have to get up to finger prick. I feel I have been able to see the trends of...

    Holiday in the sun!

I also use frio bag and have a bumbag type bag to put them in for when I need to get up for a cold drink! Not as intrusive as I thought it would be on holiday, now I don't even think about it. Enjoy yourself.

I have to reduce my basal or i hypo, much more sensitive to the insulin. Also sun has the same effect, especially if I do not have sun screen on.

    Metformin & insulin - who's taking both?

I also am on both, I had a conversation with my consultant after being told by my GP that I did not need Metformin anymore and he convinced me of the benefits, helps reduce weight gain, insulin is used more efficiently by the body and cardio protection.

    Changing from injections to pump?

I resisted getting a pump for quite a while, but I can honestly say it is the best decision I made. It is no where near as intrusive as I thought it would be. As said earlier it just lies on the bed beside me when I sleep and moves with me if I turn over, I unclip it for showering and if I go...

    active sports

I am on a pump and only give myself enough insulin for 1/2 the carbs I eat at the meal before I exercise then I reduce my basal to 50% for Zumba, nothing for aquacise, 65% for pilates and 40% if playing tennis/exercising in the sunshine. It is just trial and error as I think we are all...

Possibly have coeliac too help needed!

I too am type 1 and coeliac, found difficult at first but now used it. I agree that eating out can be a bit difficult, shops and restaurants have improved in the past 12 months. Did not notice any effect on my bg's although I do avoid the gf convenience foods as they are very sweet. The most...

    Post breakfast spike.

I am type 1 and had the same, after trying to eliminate my regular porridge, then milk finally found it was the caffeine in my tea, since cutting out caffeine my levels have been much steadier. Not sure if this would work for everyone but definitely did for me.
