Which results in more hospitalisations: severe hypos or severe hypers (DKA)?

I was wondering exactly the same. I err on the low side as, like you say, highs tend to create more complications. My Grandfather had type 1, and was forever falling into a coma, as i remember when i was a child, they would always wait for him to come round and give him a cup of sweet tea and he...

My readings on my meter are all over the place.

Hi Dave, you don't say what type your diabetes is, but as a type 1, if I had lucozade and porridge, both high carb, and no insulin, i'm sure my readings would be 15! Are you taking insulin to enable your body to process the glucose? Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    All a bit blurred.

Hi Ben, I got blurred vision when first diagnosed and it was scary! Thought i was going to lose my vision. However after getting my blood glucose levels down, it returned to normal within a week or so. So don`t worry, good luck.

Hi Indiana, everyone is different so here`s my story. I decided to quit after smoking for nearly 30 years and always joking that smoking would be the death of me. I decided to smoke e-cigs and used skycig as they seemed to be the most like cigarettes. After day one, i didn`t smoke or crave...

    Honeymoon period and insulin requirements

I`m only a about month into it and have had a couple of low readings of 3.5 or so, i felt a little shaky, and would describe it as feeling a bit nervous. Would this be classed as a hypo? I would certainly say i was aware but didn`t feel threatened by it, and just went and sat down with a cup of...

Is anyone else having difficulty ordering test strips?

This is disgraceful and the same happened to me last week. I have only been diagnosed Type 1 about a month, and am trying to build up a profile of my blood glucose. The receptionist called me at work last week to say i was testing way too much (7 times a day, first thing and before and 2hrs post...
