    Coconut Flour

Thank you everyone, I will try ewelina's lemon cake, I might put in the coconut flour instead of the soy flour - or will that not be a good idea.

    Coconut Flour

Does anyone have a reliable and tasty recipe that they have used coconut flour in and would share here? I would like to try making a plain and also a chocolate cake with coconut flour. I have looked online, most recipes seem to include ground almonds and are also very heavy on eggs. I don't have...

    New love for mixed nuts

Nuts are great and low carb but do have quite a lot of calories which is OK unless trying to prevent unwanted weight gain. I agree with others that the raisins will be high in sugar - they are just a dried grape, the water is taken out, the sugar is left behind.

Just hold on there, fat is now bad again....

It's all so confusing, an article in the same paper concludes however "EAT LESS. It is simple enough to follow. It does not rely on any analysis of the relative shortcomings of sugar and fat." https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/may/23/obesity-advice-recipe-for-confusion-eat-less

Thinking of training to be a dietician but am I going to be wasting my time?

I agree with Engineer - it's not just about weight reduction and diabetes, there are also people who are underweight and need building up, people who can't eat at all and need tube feeding and lots of other specialisms. Dietitians are regulated by the HCPC and as such can't just work from their...

    Antisocial aspects of LCHF diet?

Following on from the rumbling guts, this is interesting, going gluten free is not for everyone and not necessary if no symptoms are suffered, but for those that are gluten intolerant this report in the Daily Mail could be interesting...

    Antisocial aspects of LCHF diet?

Yes that's interesting. I've found cutting out wheat has meant I'm not passing nearly as much wind as I used to.

    Antisocial aspects of LCHF diet?

Are the sulphur containing foods making their presence felt (eggs, cabbage etc)?

    Antisocial aspects of LCHF diet?

Taking it on an empty stomach can make it worse? There is a modified release version which is kinder on the gut if the regular kind is intolerable. It would be up to your GP

Re-introducing carb after low carb diet

Do you suspect you might have a wheat/gluten intolerance? Wheat Belly by William Davis is a very good read on that subject.

Has any particular food made you vomit!

My son (not diabetic) has always vomited after drinking full sugar cola, he knows now to avoid it. Other fizzy drinks don't do this to him. I'd like to know what element of the cola makes him sick.

    Beef Jerky

    Thank you

    Beef Jerky

I've just been looking at Sainsbury's Beef Jerky and the nutrition information says that there are 21.9g of carbohydrate of which 18.9g are sugars in 100g of beef jerky. The Tesco Jerky is much the same. Can this be right? I thought Beef Jerky was just dried out beef which should be pure protein?

    Low carbing and hair thinning

I think hair loss in women can sometimes be due to hormonal fluctuations eg post-pregnancy, peri-menopause/post-menopause. If that's not the case for you would your GP be prepared to do blood tests to check for deficiencies? I noticed a lot of hair loss, but wasn't sure if it was due to time of...
