I've been told to increase HbA1c to improve hypo awareness

All too likely if you run high blood sugars I'm afraid.

I've been told to increase HbA1c to improve hypo awareness

They maybe trading off the avoidance of acute short term problems (hypo related falls) at the expense of long term problems (worsening osteoporosis). :-(

    Hospital food concern.

Incredibly cheap. When I go around the supermarket on a limited budget it's very noticeable how much more expensive all the alternatives to carb can be

    Ketones

A series of pump failures, not just one, and not gross failures that are easy to deal with, but subtle, "is it working or isn't it" failures that are much harder to diagnose and troubleshoot. I guess you have never had a bad infection because if you had your would know that BG correction is...

    Ketones

That's not harsh, it's offensive. This is based on your personal experience of what exactly? Try having serial pump failure or raging infectious disease for example.

    Hypo Anxiety (long post sorry)

I also know what the fear of hypos is like. The suggestion of a pump is a good one. I would also say to contact a hospital with a diabetic unit to assist with your birth in general, and in particular to start now working with you on the hypo fears and assisting with blood glucose management. I...

    Will smoking weed effect diabetes?

Hi Bethany! Blood sugar may well drop, can be quite a strong drop. Hence the munchies! And I suppose your judgement is not going to be the best for handling your blood sugar, hypos, etc.

    Saturated fats;no longer deadly- BMJ

Personally I think it gives the right impression, because everyone, correctly, (except possibly @SunnyExpat), understands it to mean "more fat than you are used to having and more fat than you were told you ought to have". And that is the crucial message to get across. Eat more fat than you are...

You are entirely welcome, and thank you! :-)

    Hypo's everyday?

In that case it sounds more like you need to reduce your carb ratio for your bolus insulin, particularly for the morning and lunchtime meals.

    Saturated fats;no longer deadly- BMJ

Why do you conflate fats and proteins to get 90%? That doesn't make any sense at all in terms of your argument. For all I know that could be 80% protein and 10% fat, more like an Atkins diet than LCHF. You're not making a lot of sense, though I can see you have a very strongly held opinion.

    Saturated fats;no longer deadly- BMJ

Your confusion seems to be based on a basic logical error (as well as ignoring what SouthportGP himself has said to clarify). Your logical error being that you are equating "opposing the dogma that 'all fats are bad saturated fats are very very bad'" is the same as saying "diets should be high...

    Saturated fats;no longer deadly- BMJ

By whom? He hasn't put himself forward as a saturated fat champion or even an HF champion? Why would you expect him to even respond to that question?

    Should we be more vocal?

There is plenty to be done to make it less of a struggle and to improve the results of the struggle, and foremost amongst that is getting the right information and education out there, and combatting negative stereotypes. Now that is exactly what the charity should be doing. Instead, DUK is a...

    Hypo's everyday?

I'm guessing you were not walking up and down stairs all day while you were on holiday? :-) You just need to adjust your basal insulin to your normal routine which looks like it has a lot of exercise - this is a good thing.

    Hypo's everyday?

Keep cutting back on the insulin, what's the problem with that? I don't recommend adding carbs to feed the insulin. That's just going around in circles and is not healthy for you. Eat what's right for you and adjust the insulin to match. Even if you go down to 0.5 units of basal and no bolus...

    Should we be more vocal?

That's great for you, but many other struggle with it because of poor information, social pressure, emotional pressure, and many other things. It would not hurt to be more sympathetic to people who find it more challenging than you do surely?

    Help - have I got Type 2 Diabetes ??

That's kind of like not very pregnant but carrying twins... :-) Assuming those are 8" bananas you're looking at another 60g CH from the bananas.
