How do you use your Libre 2?

Im new to libre 2. I am 10 days into my first sensor, and have just looked at the reports on libreview and cant get my head round some of the charts. There seems to me to be a lot of information there and im sure this will be useful for the professionals but being a novice im a bit overwhelmed...

    Libre pain

Thanks for that, yes i understand the difference in readings and would be happy with that. I tend to have a good english breakfast to keep me going all day till i can test myself again. My job isnt the most clean or hygenic so i dont test during the day and rely on my senses to tell me if i...

    Libre pain

Ive been offered the libre. 2 by my DSN. I have received the kit but have to wait while January to attend a webinar where supposedly i will be fitting the sensor and going over the information needed to use and maintain the system. I have gone through all the libre2 free info videos online. I...

Disagreement with doctors about testing strips

If your gp wont provide the test strips, ring your hospital diabetic dept and ask for an appointment. The doctor there I'm sure will back you 100%. I'm sure the test strips are cheaper than the consequences.

    Hypo warning

Hi, I did the DAFNE course a couple of years ago to help control my BG using the carb counting method. I believe it has helped me to stabilise my readings and given me the knowledge needed to adjust your insulin intake to suit your carb intake. The course also provides information on how to...

    Under active thyroid

Thank you for the info, it is confusing to me at this stage, though I have begun changing my diet, taking in more fish and eating more fruit. I have just had a blood test done so an appointment with my GP should be imminent and will certainly bring this up. Thanks.

    Levemir or Lantus?

I use novorapid, and it works well for me. As for the stinging, I find it does sting occasionally but have found that it depends where you inject. I use different sites, in my thigh, arm, etc, but it usually stings if I inject in my side and if I don't get the angle of the needle right ie so it...

    Under active thyroid

Thanks for the info, I never thought about Holland and Barrett. There are no Asian shops close to me but I do know of a Chinese superstore in the city that I can try. I have never tried seeweed, does have a pleasant taste, or a texture of any kind. After my throat cancer I have swallowing issues...

    Under active thyroid

Hi , I'm under active due to the radiation treatment I had for throat cancer almost 5 years ago. The thyroid was picked up at my last clinic visit after I reported putting on weight all of a sudden. I have other symptoms of thyroid, but put these down to getting older and lack of proper exercise...

    Under active thyroid

Hi totto, I don't have any additional salt in my diet,; I have two eggs a day, which I used to fry, but have now been told boiled eggs are more beneficial. I have now started to look more closely at sea food, though I do occasionally eat mackerel. Is there specific sea food I should be...

    Under active thyroid

hi scouser58, keeping the balance I think is the key, and as you say keep the diabetes under control is vital. I may have panicked a little with the changes in my condition, but it is nice to know I am not alone. Thanks.

    Under active thyroid

Hi zicksi101, what you say makes sense, and yes I can take more insulin to compensate for the carbs; it is just that I have got used to regulating my diabetes with a sensible diet and low levels of insulin. Balance as you say is going to be the order of the day. Thanks for your thoughts, it has...

    Under active thyroid

i have been diagnosed with an under active thyroid as a consequence of radiation therapy. This means I am lacking in iodine as far as I can make out. I have been prescribed the tablets, but my problem (or I see it as a possible problem) is the diet I need to keep my glucose levels down versus...

MY STRIPS REPEAT PRESCRIPTION HAS BEEN CANCELLED

That is good news being in remission. I would not worry too much about testing, if your nurse/ doctor has given the all clear then you can be glad not having to keep testing. I would have thought they would have told you that you could always go for your blood glucose testing if you were...

    CONFUSED

Well if you were not confused which type you are before, you must be by now. Surely keeping your blood sugar under control is more important than whether your classified type 1 or 2. I started out as type 2 on tablets and diet, but this did not make me any better. I was then put on insulin...

    BG levels before bed

HI Each unit will give you 2-3 mmol change so dont over adjust too quickly. To get your BI right you will need to do some carb free meals and record vigorously so you can see what is happening and when. You may even need to split your basel insulin at some point, but you need to discuss these...

    BG levels before bed

HI, Just watch out for any un-expected spikes in the morning, this can sometimes happen. Your hormones come in to play first thing in the morning so dont worry too much. Record and check for a few days and make any adjustments then. Check with your DN at next appointment.

    Insulin pump and dafne

Well done and I hope everything goes well for you and your daughter. I believe the circumstances are or can be different for children, and with a good diabetic team I think you can get through. Apparently there are more people getting the use of pumps, so assuming there is a little more...

    Levemir or Lantus?

I have only ever been on Lantus also, however because of my lifestyle I took my Lantus in the morning. I used to go to the Gym 5 days of the week before work and ran many charity runs on weekends. Lantus has worked well for me until I retired. I have just been on the DAFNE course, which has...
