    Bariatric surgery

Hi APBNAB, I had a gastric sleeve a few years ago. My stress caused my weight to go up to over 18 stone and size 22 but due to disability i cannot exercise easily (i use crutches and rollators) so it was my only option. I paid for mine but have no regrets at all. I’m now in a size 10-12 having...

    Sudden foot problems

I’ve been Type 1 for 50 years almost. I have suffered from Neuropathy for years causing numbness in both feet plus tenderness on my lower legs with any pressure applied. I had a fall several weeks ago but had my right foot x-rayed to check for fractures as it’s been agony and swelling every...

    Medical Bracelets

I was diagnosed T1 when I was 3. I have allergies to many metals including sterling silver! I can only wear 9ct/18ct yellow gold and Titanium. This ends up very expensive. I have a tattoo on my left inner wrist with the medical staff symbol and states type 1 Diabetic plus my NHS number.

    Type 1 Antibiotics

Hi, does anyone else find that Antibiotics cause erratic bs? I’ve heard people say it’s not them but the infection but I don’t agree with this! I was recently given Flucloxacillin for a bite on my leg which is starting to heal now. But the bite was there for a couple of weeks and I was dressing...

    Needle Tip Sizes

Remember them well! Enormous and thick! Big glass syringe kept in Methylated spirit!! I use 6mm needles now and have no problem. Basal in thighs and bum, bolus in stomach and arms. Tried 4mm but every jab left a small lump wherever I put it so DSN put me back on 6mm.

    Diabetes & Cancer Link

Thought you’d all like to read this. It’s on Carenity website by Margarita_k community manager. That diabetes and cancer are linked in some way is by no means a new idea, but it had never previously been confirmed. Now, a major new study draws a firm conclusion: diabetes raises a person's risk...

Type 1 Been told something on holiday (upsetting) type 1 diabetic!

Hear! Hear! I would do the same as you! What losers. No one sees you do it nowadays as I do it under the table so it is very discreet. We should NOT be made to feel like freaks in this day and age. Martin and the cronies that agree with him are the freaks. Grow up.

Type 1 Been told something on holiday (upsetting) type 1 diabetic!

I have been type 1 for 46 years and do both discreetly when on holiday and never had a problem. As for your opinion I think you have an ancient view from the dark ages! No one needs to 'watch' unless you do it in full view.

    Charcot Foot

I have been told I probably have Charcot Foot after an X-ray at the Vascular clinic. I am being monitored at the moment and trying to rest it which isn't easy! I also have Osteomyelitis in my foot. It is always my left foot too. All ulcers and now these added problems are on my left foot. I have...

Petition for Freestyle Libre on NHS

If free treatment on NHS was not free for all the tourists and refugees it would be in a better state. They have to pay at home so can't complain. The amount of people being let in to live here is in the 10,000's and not one has ever paid towards the NHS but expects free treatment. Also the...

How dangerous is a hypo during sleep

I have been Type 1 for 46 years and if I go hypo it is normally when I'm asleep. My husband has got very good at giving me Glucogen to bring me round (on prescription) I have been as low as 1mmol but the jab doesn't seem to raise my sugar levels by much the next day. I still run at about 7-9. I...

HypoBand - The Cold Sweat Alarm

How do you justify selling the IOS version for £149.00 plus almost £30 in taxes but the android one is £74.99 plus £15 taxes. You seem to be based in Hampshire but want these extortionate taxes paid even in the U.K. Not good. I wanted to get one but won't bother now. Too expensive.

    sugar tax and hypo treatment

I always have Sugar Cubes in an airtight box for times I have no Lucozade. One sugar cube is approximately 5 grams of carbohydrates so only need 3. They dissolve in your mouth too. Very handy to have and not as powdery as glucose tablets. One cube is equivalent to one teaspoon of granulated sugar.

Sounds like you need a shorter needle if it is painful or bleeds.

    Switching from Levemir to Tresiba

I use Tresiba and am better on it! I use the Novo Echo pen as it can do half units which is great. I took a few days to get sorted on it but you will get sorted!!!! Don't panic. A few days of corrections will be fine. It is a longer acting insulin than Levemir

Type 1: Sore finger tips - not taking insulin

I use my accu-chek FastClix. I use the sides and tops of my fingers (below the nail) which seems to work well. Also at hospital they took blood from my earlobes!!! Warm hands are best. Don't stop your insulin! DKA is awful. I have had it. You need some Psychological help. Are you on an...
