    Bs monitoring.. watch???

Hi guys, I'm a bit **** at checking my blood sugar levels. Is there a watch or a device that you can wear that'll do it for you? There's got to be something, but I'm not finding much on the web. Let me know. Thanks.

    Type 1 - Mood swings

I use Humalog and Levermir.. I too had a bad reaction to the stuff they first gave me (Lantus and Novarapid), sent me bandy and I couldn't work on it.. Since the change, I have been able to manage my levels much more effectively.

    Type 1 - Mood swings

Thanks for the advice so far - I am still learning, this Diabetic thing is a lottery at best! I have been checking my levels a lot more since I have noticed the mood swings becoming more and more troublesome. I don't see an obvious pattern, I can be grumpy high or low, although more noticeably...

    Type 1 - Mood swings

No not at the time, its usually too late for testing blood levels, the damage is done! Although I do test regularly. I have just tested myself and I'm registering 16 at the moment yet I don't feel moody, I can feel the high, but I feel fine in myself. The mood swings are very random - I can go...

    Type 1 - Mood swings

Hi, I've been a type 1 for about 18 months. I have been told I am well managed and rarely have lows, yet I have been having severe mood swings. I've had a go at my partner, friends, children, estate agent etc - it seems to come out of the blue and before I realize I am in full flow - nasty...

Does anyone find Lantus an issue?

It made me feel very ill and depressed.. my consultant said it can sometimes have this odd side affect. I now use Levemir and inject twice a day. I think I get much better background cover and no more feeling rotten. Much happier now!

    Lumpy injection sites

Hi Guys, Another question from me. I've been type 1 for about a year now and I've noticed small lumps under the areas where I inject.. I know to move my sites about and I do, they are nothing drastic - I just worry over time it will get worse. Can anyone suggest methods to clear them up or...

    Type 1 & Backed up!

Hi, Bit of a blunt question, does anyone have trouble going to the loo? I can go up to 5+ days without a number two, before I was diagnosed type 1 I was fine.. My diet is pretty much normal fare, I have removed sugars but not much else.. I eat more fruit and veg than before, so I would have...

    Struggling with my diabetes.

Tim2000s - There isn't too much to say really other than they hurt less and leave less marks on your body. Some say they can be harder to get an exact dose in but I seem to have tight control of my bloods so I'm not struggling there (you do need to over compensate on smaller dosages, but you...

Type 1 Honeymoon Period... Very vague to me!

Thanks all! Emmotha - I think my biggest problem is in 8 months I haven't met anyone with Type 1, so I am kind of relying on the web to get a better understanding (where I am sure a good hour with someone who's had it for years would probably answer a lot of questions). For example, I didn't...

    Struggling with my diabetes.

Yes - I was told they are more expensive hence why they aren't offered that much, but having researched it they aren't stupidly expensive.. But this shouldn't stop you asking for one! I have 2 one for the fast and another for the slow.. I cannot see why anyone would continue with needles, for me...

    Struggling with my diabetes.

Slightly related - if you have trouble injecting needles into any part of your body - I know I did, to the point where I refused point blank to do it! - Ask your doctor / consultants about the Insujet Pen, this is a pump pen that fires the insulin through your skin with no needle! Hurts a lot...

Type 1 Honeymoon Period... Very vague to me!

Thanks guys, some good advice here. I will investigate the DAFNE course and DR Bernsteins book, and keep going I suppose... Emmotha - One if the things that was odd about my case was I presented no Antibodies in my blood tests, I had Key-tones but not the other. I was told by someone that to...

    HbA1c

Hi There, I was diagnosed in April 2014 with type 1... Since I've had 2 HbA1c tests (the second I asked for). You should have had one on diagnosis and they should do another about 3 months after the first. If you haven't had one (more likely they haven't told you you've had one), then speak to...

Type 1 Honeymoon Period... Very vague to me!

Hi all, I was diagnosed Type 1 in April 2014, so have been a diabetic for about 8 months - even though its been a while I cannot get my head around it all and still think I was misdiagnosed as it happened all very quickly and feels like I was pushed to take insulin and the information and...

    Depressed

Hey Martin - I read this and it hit a chord with me.. I was diagnosed 4 months ago with Type 1, I wouldn't say I felt as depressed about it as you seem to be, but I see similarities. I became very grumpy and went into a very unproductive denial period. I have been close to throwing my meds away...

    Confused by diagnosis

I'm a type 1 recently diagnosed (4 months ago) and it is tough on everyone around me - I found I became incredibly grumpy and this put my better half under a lot of pressure. I also had conflicting symptoms and test results as well, I had keytones but no antibodies in my blood for example... My...

worried about my little boy aged 6

Hi Lorraine, I'm a type 1 quite recently diagnosed. When I was diagnosed by the hospital my bloods were in the 20's and I was in a very bad way, but 12.9 does sound quite high, but could just be a dodgy meter reading, I wouldn't test my bloods at a pharmacy. Whilst meter readings are very...

    Problems with Insulin? Side effects?

Hi All, Can you help? I'm 40 and I was diagnosed 4 months ago with Type 1 after the usual symptoms - excessive thirst / loss of eye sight etc... Within the space of 7-10 days, I went from a normal healthy fit man to Type 1. I started out on Nova rapid and Lantus and my glucose levels have...

Type 1 Type 1 - Recently diagnosed - but not convinced

HI All, Some advice please? I was diagnosed Type 1 about 4 months ago - I had the usual symptoms, thirst and keytones etc. I'm 40 and I am in reasonably good physical health being quite active and a gym goer. But since, I have been injecting the insulin slow and quick acting... Now my glucose...
