    Latitude Festival

It does all depend on how hot it gets. It can end up very hot inside a car or tent. Keeping the insulin inside a frio pack seems better to me than risking it going off. Because the frio packs work by evaporation they do need some air circulation around them - don't stick it in a plastic bag and...

    Splitting my dose

I just split mine in 2 and did the injections roughly 12ish hours apart (morning and evening).

    Less insulin on pump?

Is another reason less insulin is needed on a pump that we have much finer control over the adjustments - no longer only whole or half units at a time. If the basal & ratios are right we get much nearer what the correct dose is compared with mdi. Just my thoughts. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    BDEC online course

Another issue with DAFNE is that there needs to be 3 people from a clinic trained to give the course - DSN, dietician and a doctor. I was able to get on a course about 7 years ago but back then the online stuff wasn't there so when it did come online I wasn't able to access it (not that I'm all...

    Feeling deflated

Do ask if they have one you can borrow for a couple of weeks. I was able to borrow one from my clinic (I'm going to ask again when I'm back there next week). It makes doing things like basal testing so much easier and you can see the trends. I have an engineering background and my biggest...

I will join the pump club next week!

Hope it goes well for you. It can be hard work, but then again so is doing all the injections! Once you've worked out what roughly the right settings are for you it should get easier

    Pump Supplies Carry Case

Must get back to this forum... I went for one of those cases like Julie and Hooked in black and it fits almost everything I want in there. It'll do till I manage to break it in a year or few

    Pump Supplies Carry Case

Thanks for the input. Those 2 cases are the ones I've been looking at (maybe not in purple though ;)). I'm just trying to get my head round the sizes, compared to what I've got now. Conrad, that picture shows a a lunchpack that won't close - best drink the beers first :)

    Pump Supplies Carry Case

Are there any recomendations out there for carry cases for pump users. I've been using a desang cases for the last few years with my pens and have had great service from them. Now with the pump, most of the stuff I need to carry round is the same - meter, test strips, hypo treatment, diabetc ID...

    Low

I think I've posted pictures of a 1.7 or 1.8 on twitter before now. Didn't need hospital treatment, just glucose tabs. I did feel awful at the time and for quite a while afterwards. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Basal Testing

Thanks. The plan is to redo the test sometime in the next week or two. Keeping everything attached this time. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Basal Testing

Hi, As I've now been on a pump for a couple of weeks I decided I should try a basal test. Taking the easy route I thought I'd go with a morning test - like everyone I don't like the idea of needing to get up every couple of hours overnight to test. Before bed 23:05 12.5mmol/l - correct with some...

    Pump help!!

Thankfully a 2ml cartridge lasts about 2 1/2 days. About as long as a cannula set for me. I have changed set more often though if it get irritated. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Type 1 rules we accidentally break :/

I too did the through the clothes thing. I think some of my t-shirts still have the old blood stains... Not changing pen needle or lancet. I did get better at this and maybe change them a couple of times a week - it used to be either at the end of the cartridge ot as my gp says, when it bounces...

    Long acting insulins

How long is long? Lantus & Levemir are the 2 that are around the most at the moment along with Tresiba as a newer option. The older Isophane insulins (Humulin I, Insulatard, Insuman Basal) are shorter (intermediate) acting but used to be the long acting basal insulin of choice with multiple...

How many test strips do you use a month?

I get through about 200 in a month. Sometimes more, sometimes less. At the moment I'm probably using more than I have done recently but like yourself I'm now on a pump and need to test more to get it set up right for me. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    When does levimir peak?

When I was on Levemir, I could get that late afternoon hypo (usually as I was walking to the station for the train home after work). Adjusting the morning shot of levemir to a slightly lower dose - only change by a couple of units and you need to keep the change in place a few days before you...

How Much Insulin Do You Take?

How much insulin do I take? I try and take as much as I need. About 25u for basal needs and 30-50 depending on what I eat Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Can someone help make sense PLEASE?

Sliding scale that's what I'm trying to remember. Basically a syringe pump feeding insulin into the drip port which they can then vary depending on BG levels. A must for T1 if it is a glucose bag on the drip and not allowed to manage own insulin. I'm now having flashbacks to when I was...
