    Sensors and Vaccination Swelling

Default is one in each arm but I spoke to them and they were happy to do both in opposite arm to sensor.

Donating surplus infusion sets and cannulas

These are now gone. At the advice of the Insight helpdesk, I ended up taking them apart and recycling what I could of them.

Donating surplus infusion sets and cannulas

I've changed insulin pump and my hospital no longer prescribes my old pump (Insight) so won't use the infusion sets and cannulas I've got left over. I know IDDT used to collect surplus diabetes supplies for donation overseas, but they don't seem to be accepting donations at the minute...

Sudden Rise in BG on waking

It has been a while since I was on basal bolus, but I seem to remember experiencing something similar. What I think helped was changing the time of my basal injection from morning to evening. Have you considered giving that a try?

Which pumps use pre-filled Novorapid pumpcarts?

Thank you all! I've just watched a video of the Omnipod filling process and it does look easier than I remember manually filling cartridges to be - good to know, thanks.

Which pumps use pre-filled Novorapid pumpcarts?

I'm currently using the Accucheck Insight pump which uses the pre-filled Novorapid pump cartridges. I find these so much easier than manually filling them (which I've done with previous pumps). I understand Roche have discontinued the Insight in the UK so I'll need to move to a different pump...

    Problem renewing driving license

In case it helps, the DVLA website says: "You can also renew your short-term medical driving licence by post. DVLA will send you a renewal reminder 90 days before your licence expires. If you do not receive a reminder, you should order form D1 and download and fill in the medical forms for...

    Baby grabbing pump!!

I've always found the pump clips a bit awkward. The best thing for me at that stage was tucking the pump (no clip on) inside a nursing bra. If you get the right design, they have a kind of stretchy bit front and centre that you can use as a pump "pocket". Also useful for tucking in any extra...

    Breastfeeding

La Leche League also have some specific information on breastfeeding with diabetes: https://www.laleche.org.uk/diabetes-and-breastfeeding/ While it can be a bit of a juggling act at first, I think the changes in insulin requirements due to no longer being pregnant/hormones and trying to...

    Accu Chek Infusion Sets

I seem to have missed the news that it is now necessary to order Accu Chek cannulas and tubing in separate boxes, rather than ordering all-in-one infusion sets (cannulas + tubing together). Posting here in case it is helpful for anyone else - this is taken from an email I got from Roche's...

    Using Fiasp for Corrections Only

Is anyone using Fiasp for corrections, but another insulin in their pump? I've recently been trying out Libre and having the hard data in front of me shows that correction doses with Novorapid (the insulin in my pump) are taking longer to bring me within target than I previously realised. I...

Where can I get rid of unused pump supplies?

The hospital took mine back when I switched pumps. I didn't ask, but perhaps they use them for education purposes?

Why is the Insight handset so slow?

My main reason for choosing it was being able to bolus remotely, too - particularly at work. It is also very small and neat, which means it is easy/discreet to fit under clothes. I hold out hope that the next edition will give us an improvement in the handset. Or even better, the ability to...

Why is the Insight handset so slow?

I've had the Accu-Check Insight for a while now and there's a lot I like about it, but the slowness of the handset is starting to bother me. A few times now, I've found myself missing a bolus because I get interrupted during the (lengthy, multi-step) blousing process. I've also found myself...

    Donating Blood

It's an interesting question. This suggests it is a policy for the protection of donors, rather than there being any problem with the donated blood: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/can-people-with-diabetes-give-blood.html I did ask years ago whether platelets could be donated (if not blood) and...

Insulin Injection - Bleeds And Leaves Bruises

Are you taking aspirin? I was prescribed aspirin when pregnant (due to having T1 diabetes) and found it made me bruise more easily than when I wasn't pregnant. I've been on an insulin pump for a few years but the rare times I had bleeding back when I was on an insulin pen I don't remember it...

    Strep b home testing...

I've done the home test - really easy and the results came back quickly (less than a week IIRC). I figured that there is certainly no downside to doing it and it could provide information my consultants might find helpful. I've recommended it to others. This was the site I used...

Heathrow and the Pump interrogations and scaners and xray machines!!!!!

I've generally had good experiences at Heathrow, although the extent of security search has varied when I've said I can't go through the full body scanner with my pump. When I last went through, the security agent recommended that I take my pump off, put it in a plastic bag and give it to a...

35 weeks babies tummy measuring big and too much fluid

One factor to consider is that they may let you go later (potentially with increased monitoring) if you opt for a planned c-section. If there are concerns about baby being large, then they may want to induce earlier to prevent any problems birthing him (and I expect will need to give steroids)...
