    Foot ulcer.

Yesterday I noticed this weird thing on the sole of my foot. It's a few red dots. Don't hurt to touch but hardened skin on the top. I don't know what the begging of an ulcer looks like and am very worried as away from my GP and currently in the process of relocating hospitals!! Could any one...

    Libre sensor

Yeah I'm not sure they'll replace it as it ripped of rather than fell off. But put a new one on 4 hours ago and told me to replace as not working. Can't believe that's two in one day. I cannot afford for them to go wrong :/

    Libre sensor

My sensor just ripped out after 9 days. Was due to go on holiday in the morning, so annoying as was hoping to change half way through the holiday as not sure a new one would last with all the swimming! Would abbotts replace this sensor or are they not likely to as I've had more than a weeks...

    Retinopathy

It is only the early stages but it shouldn't even be at that stage yet from what I know about it. I had a previous test a year ago and that was all clear. I am going to speak to my gp today and hopefully get booked in for a retest just to confirm either way. My blood sugar has the occasional...

    Retinopathy

To those who have been diagnosed with retinopathy. How soon after being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes were you diagnosed with the early stages of retinopathy? Also what was your average HbA1c? I was diagnosed today but have low blood pressure, a HbA1c of 6.5% and only been diagnosed a year...

    Morning Syndrome

I also find that if I take the insulin and continue lying in bed for 10-15 minutes this really helps stop the spike. But not really practical on work days!

    Morning Syndrome

I have this too. What I do is take 1.5-2 units when I wake up, if I'm also having breakfast I'll add those units on too and eat 15 minutes later. If not eating straight away just take the 1.5-2units on its own!

    Lows

I use Gluco tabs. They're like dextrose but work slightly faster and taste a lot nicer. You can get little tubes of them great for in bags but I keep large pots of them by my bed as also to refill the little tubes. Find these better than sweats and sugary drinks as not tempted to just have them...

Using injection ports as an alternative injection mechanism on MDI

Hi Tim2000, I was wondering were I can purchase some of these to give them a go. I'm currently on MDI but am injecting 8-10 times per day (on a good day!) Do you have to have permission from your DSN first? Thank you

    carbs for breakfast

I've had this same problem for quite a while nothing really works if I still eat carbs the only time it doesn't spike so much is if I have a protein/fat breakfast like scrambled eggs mushrooms and tomato! I've noticed that my blood spikes with in the hour of waking up even if I don't eat so I...

    High sugars

During my first year of diagnosis I had to make sure I was above 10 before bed or it would come down too much. You basal will help it come down too. When you know that your basal is correct you can begin to work out if you need a correction or anything before bed. For me it changes every day you...

    High sugars

In gaining control I don't think it's a problem as long as there are not ketones like you say. It's these high sugars that cause side affects later on in life, so the sooner you can get it down the better for you in the long run. But for now just make sure you don't skip your insulin and you...

    Told to raise HbA1c

Yes I am on a 24hr basal (Levemir) so I do still have some insulin on board, I have also never had a ketone level above 0.8 so don't know if that's because I must be producing some of my own insulin still. The doctors have told me I have to wait till three years diagnosis before a C peptide...

    Told to raise HbA1c

Yes the only thing with trying to set an alarm is that it happens randomly each time I never know if it will be around 12am or 6am or anywhere in between. They have said I can apply for a pump but I'd much rather have a CGM and would find it a lot more useful. I have good control apart from...

    Told to raise HbA1c

Yeah I want to be as close to the normal range as possible to make sure things look better for me in the long run. I am the same I'm quite obsessive with keeping things controlled and get annoyed when they don't do what I expect and the doctors say I'm trying to control it too much!!

    Told to raise HbA1c

I thought that might be the case. I only get hypos during the night after I've been dancing. Even if I eat a fair amount of carbs with no insulin (and no evening basal) I still have a hypo. This is twice a week at the moment as that's how often I'm teaching dance at the moment.
