Dealing with a know it all non-diabetic

I come along this kind of people all the time. One of them actually studies medicine and was convinced low blood sugars cause bradycardia (which is nonsense, as low blood sugars HUGELY raises heart rates)! What I've learnt from these people is ignorance is bliss. Even though they know you are a...

    T1D & studying

I have been under a lot of pressure lately, as my University admission exam is coming up next week. My blood sugars have been at 250 for weeks. I raised my Lantus from 7 units to 9 and my Novo from 7 to 8. Have you also experienced high blood sugar during stressful studying sessions? How did you...

    Need to talk to someone...

I will look for the handbook and upload a picture when I get home. As far as I remember, it was a local doctor from my country that published it. I don't think there is a large number of patients outside my city that get access to it.

    Need to talk to someone...

I'm sorry if it sounded uninformed, but this is what I read in my diabetes handbook after I left the hospital. My intentions were absolutely NOT scaring anyone - who would want that? I just wanted to help.

Just check your blood sugars during the next day, especially the ones between lunch and dinner. Don't worry, everything will be alright.

Struggling to get in a routine

Try relying on your doctor if the family members are not understanding enough. Feel free to ask any questions you may have, as they will not be judging. When I first got diagnosed I used to have over 10 alarms set on my phone to remind me to eat, snack, take my long-acting insulin, even for a...

    Struggling to cope

It is perfectly normal to ache! The spots that you choose for injecting are sometimes painless, sometimes very hurtful. You should cycle the injecting sites every chance you get. For example, when you have breakfast at home in the morning, try to inject in the legs. Because, if you have lunch...

    Need to talk to someone...

The possibility of the baby to inherit diabetes is 50%. After giving birth the blood sugars may return to a normal range. It's hard, I know, but if you really have doubts about the abortion just don't do it. Think about what you are going through, if it's worth losing what you have. Good luck!

How much do your sugars jump after eating?

My blood sugars before meals are about 120. I take 7 units of NovoRapid fast acting insulin and they jump to 200 in one hour post meal, but after 2/2.5 hours they are usually back in range.

Low carb dinner - good or bad weight loss plan?

Thank you, everyone, for your replies! I will try to change my breakfast as you suggested :) I know it seems like I shouldn't lose weight, but I just felt better, way more energetic and with better blood sugars, when I was thinner. Thank you for the advice!

Low carb dinner - good or bad weight loss plan?

Hello! I am 18 years old, type one for about 3 years. At the moment I weight about 54 kg and my height is 170 cm. I've been trying to lose a bit of weight as my doctor said that my ideal weight would be 52 kilos. I eat 50-70 grams of carbs in the morning, 50 at lunch and 50 at dinner. I was...

    NovoPen 4

Hello everyone! I have just ordered a NovoPen 4 because my old NovoPen 3 Demi isn't working that well anymore. I have to say, its quality impressed me; too bad it got old. Is any of you using NovoPen 4? Any thoughts, tips, things I should expect?

    Insulin pens

Clickstar has been my favorite one. I miss its quality a lot.

    Insulin pens

I use NovoPen Demi for fast-acting insulin and Solostar for Lantus. When I was diagnosed they gave me Clickstar for Lantus and I loved it. The mere reason of switching to Solostar was because it's the most used one in my country.
