    Carbs in cooked noodles

    Thanks for your help guys.

    Newbie - T2 diagnosed

Hi Volorg, thought I would reply to you, even though I'm a T1, mainly because I posted yesterday to say how disgusting it is that the NHS won't prescribe the test strips. You're absolutely right to have challenged your doctor about this. I'm glad your doctor prescribed you them in the end...

    Carbs in cooked noodles

Hi guys, I'm thinking of having half a packet of Lidl's version of Supernoodles with my lunch. The trouble is, the nutritional information is just for the uncooked values, and the whole packet uncooked weighs 108g and contains 15g of carbs. It'll be heavier after it has been cooked. At least...

    Newbie - T2 diagnosed

Can't say that I was given much dietary advice really, but I guess things were even more backward in 1998, although some of the NHS stories you hear nowadays, it wouldn't surprise me if things were better back in the late 90s. I get most of my dietary advice online, to be honest. Obviously you...

    Newbie - T2 diagnosed

I obviously get given meters because I'm a T1. I also get to see a dietician once in a while. What dietary care to T2's get? From what a few of you have said, not a great deal. It must be hard for you trying to control with just medication, or for some people, just their diet. Sent from the...

    Newbie - T2 diagnosed

My partner is the same. He eats so much rubbish, and although he's not diabetic, I try to encourage him to try out my healthy recipes, but he thinks they're gross. Haha. But I do worry about him as there is a history of type 2 in his family. I sometimes get tempted by his foods, but I just...

    Newbie - T2 diagnosed

I totally agree with that, Jack. It's only on the odd occasion that I fancy a cake or dessert, my greatest downfall are crisps. I have a small packet of Pork Scratchings once a week instead, as obviously, they contain little to no carbs. It's my weekly treat. I find that if you don't have a...

I made it through the night without popping to my nearest 24 hour shop for a choux bun... Yay! :) Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

To be honest, stuff the science right now, just give me a massive toffee and chocolate choux bun with extra sugary thick, luxurious cream! Lol. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Am I expecting too much asking for a low carb diet when my employer caters?

How often do you have to go to these functions? And what type of vegetarian food? I doubt it was meat? A lot of vegetarian food is packed with carbs. Bet it hurt a little when they told you they'd forgotten? I would have been :( Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Anything could be going on in those 2-3 months, especially if you have high BS and don't even know. If they won't give out meters, then they really should give brilliant dietary advice. All diabetics know about cutting out sugar, but it's much more scientific than that, that's why I spend most...

    Newbie - T2 diagnosed

Ahh, that's ok. I applied for one, but due to my location, they can't send me one because this area doesn't use the Onetouch meters anymore. We're issued Wavesense Jazz ones now. They are much cheaper than the Onetouch ones. I guess that's the NHS' doing again... Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Sorry guys, just looked at the freebie link and they won't issue the meters to non insulin regimes :( Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Newbie - T2 diagnosed

I am absolutely shocked that T2's are treated like that. I know that they're trying to cut costs, but prevention rather than cure is the way I see it - poor diabetic control is dangerous, and it will cost the NHS so much more the more people that get serious diabetic damage. That could be...

Oh my god, I think it's awful that you don't get given a meter. :( Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Cup of percolated coffee

Are you using semi skimmed? Whole milk has less carbs. But I swapped cows milk for unsweetened Soya milk, because cows milk was raising my blood sugar terribly. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Do they not give T2's meters then? If not, I think that's awful. The strips cost a fortune. But well worth you getting one. Good luck with everything. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Good luck with your weight loss. I'm dieting too, and it can be so hard resisting your favourite foods. Maybe have a small baked potato as a treat when your birthday comes around. Sent from the Diabetes Forum App
