    Statins and T2D

Many thanks to everyone who responded. I think you are right. There is also reputable medical research that backs this up. Researchers in Finland found that statins were associated with an almost 50% higher risk of developing T2D - even after adjusting the results for all other factors. Statins...

    Statins and T2D

Yes will do.. Have just viewed the lecture by Dr Jason Fang on YouTube: His evidence for a LCHF diet is extremely convincing. Seems amazing that current medical orthodoxy and practice is not following up on this study.

    Statins and T2D

Can taking statins increase the risk of getting T2 diabetes? I'm pre-diabetic (HbA1c = 42) and not on medication. But recently stopped taking statins for 6 months and noticed a significant drop in my HbA1c readings. Is there any research to support the potential link, or is this drop just a...

Will 20% weightloss reverse my prediabetes?

See my reply below. I meant to post it following your comment but somehow it was posted in response to another reply?

Will 20% weightloss reverse my prediabetes?

Agree that LCHF and fasting definitely helps to reverse (not cure) T2 and can get HbA1c back to normal levels if you are pre-diabetic. Keep it up. I also found that when I stopped taking statins, my HbA1c readings dropped. significantly. Is that a coincidence? There is some research to...

MY STRIPS REPEAT PRESCRIPTION HAS BEEN CANCELLED

It seems NHS policy has changed quite recently. I was told only T2 patients on medication can get testing strips free on prescription. Policy is designed to save NHS money rather than having anything to do with good clinical practice. Patients who are pre-diabetic and control by diet & exercise...

NHS Direct doctor says... NO testing when taking Metformin

Agree with all comments posted that you should test. But probably not good idea to miss breakfast. If your fasting (overnight) BG is 7.4 in morning that is normal for T2. However that doesn't explain why it rises to 12 at noon before taking food. Is it possible your liver is dumping glycogen to...

    What has caused my prediabetes?

Sally . Pre-diabetes does not automatically mean you will slip into full blown Type 2. I was diagnosed 6 years ago as pre-diabetic but by adopting a low GI diet and doing a lot of fun exercise I managed to reduce my weight by 15 kg and control my BG levels (HbA1c = ~6 even after 6 years) . So...

Caught early and whipped into submission

Mike, I have a similar experience. By pure chance, a routine blood test some 6 years ago identified my Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT). I immediately cut out all sugar (as far as possible), started a Low GI diet or food plan, and took up a lot of fun exercise ( badminton, walking, cycling). I...

Will prediabetes inevitably lead to Type 2 ?

I have been diagnosed as being pre-diabetic with regular HBA1c < or = 6.1% (or 43 mmol/mol). My GP says I will eventually develop full-blown Type 2 with time and that the process is irreversible. But according to Prof John Yudkin , Emeritus Professor of Medicine at UCL only 10% of...

Method discovered to prevent type 2 diabetes development

I am pre-diabetic with HbA1C = 40 - 42 . My GP says that I will eventually develop full blown Type 2 Diabetes and that my condition is irreversible. Is this correct? My understanding from research papers is that only about 10% of pre-diabetics go on to develop Type 2.
