Tooth loss with type 1 diabetes

HBA1c is not a true picture of what is really happening. It is just an average over a period of time. In a month you could have 15 days of blood sugars of 11 and then 15 days of blood sugars of 3, none ideal but have a HBA1c of 7 which sounds brilliant.

Tooth loss with type 1 diabetes

Thank you all for your comments. My blood sugars are actually good and have been for many years. It is not my teeth that are rotting, it is the gums that are receding. I do visit the dental hygienist (at great expense). I have always had a good diet and very rarely drink fizzy drinks - maybe...

Has anyone had problems with tooth loss with regards to type 1 diabetes? I have lost a number of teeth and have been told that it is through my diabetes. I have had type 1 for 46 years. Unfortunately I am having real difficulty with wearing dentures due to gagging when trying to insert my...

Anyone With Type 1 And No Complications

Have had diabetes for 45 years. Fortunately only background retinopathy. A big well done to all those long term T1 diabetics. I have the motto - If I can't be responsible for my own diabetes why should I expect others (NHS) to?

type 1 diabetes/ invisible illness documentary

As I have been told for many years, diabetes will never kill me but any one(or more) of the things that it can bring on will. I think people are quite ignorant on the affects that diabetes can have on the body and the amount of other things we have to be aware of. It is a very complex...

I have been type 1 diabetic for 42 years and fortunately my hard work is paying off. Even after all this time I have no complications (yes I know I am...

    HbA1c

I have been diabetic now for 42 years and I have never understood the logic in HBA1c results or why medical staff are so fanatical about them. As I have been led to believe HBA1c rrsults are an average over a 3 month period. So therefore if you have a high number of 85.8 and equal number of...

Grapefruit juice investigated as treatment for diabetes

Interesting one. I am led to believe that a lot of diabetics are also on statins.l. If they are they are not supposed to eat grapefruit. So if this does prove to be good for lowering blood sugars then may not be able to be used by many people.
