Type 2 Eating Guidelines v LCHF Diet

Definitely no porridge or oats for me either. Protein at every meal, breakfast can be scrambled poached eggs, protein whey smoothie etc. No bread unless it's made from amaranth seeds or teff flour. Generally any type of flour is high carb, it makes it hard to change one's way of eating but one...

high cholesterol, need weight loss advice please

The lower the carbs the better. Mine is controlled by diet alone, I take don't use insulin or tablets. I keep an eye on my levels and they only go up with carbs; so no pastas as such but mung bean and black bean turned into pasta from health food shops are good. Doctors say bread is ok but for...

    Your Valued Opinions Please

Personally I would knock out anything with wheat, I reversed my type 2 by changing to gluten free permanently, breakfast for me is either scrambled eggs and no toast unless I have flatbread made on hand from seeds, such as millet or amaranth etc or I make smoothies from almond milk, protein whey...

How did you feel about switching onto injections?

I found by eliminating certain foods I reversed my type 2 diabetes. I had to be strict initially but now I have a snack attack now and again. If I listened to the doctors I would be on insulin 3 times a day and a tablet at night, making the drug companies even richer. I take nothing and all is...

Off Insulin after 10 years - simple and easy

Had success by making flatbreads with coconut flour or almond and flax meal, lots of practice to get it right without being too dry; hate dry food! Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

Diabetic Low Carber's I need your advice

Sorry, but doctors don't always know what's best. I have proven that many times. They usually mean well but a lot of them are rigid and refuse to think outside the box. Very low carb, no grains or sugar will bring down your BSL. I have successfully reversed mine by following a particular food...

Off Insulin after 10 years - simple and easy

That great, it sounds like the same type of food that keeps me off insulin. Mind you I was only diagnosed in early June and only only insulin and tablets for one month. No grain whatsoever in my diet, no wheat or starchy foods, potatoes or sweet potatoes etc. If I dare to have a mushy pea pie...

    Reversing Diabetes 2

Hi On the 6th June 2014 I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, after being admitted to hospital over another issue. During my 3 weeks in hospital that included abdominal surgery I received insulin 3 times a day plus metformin at night. After my release from hospital I set about doing the...
