Would you want to go back to eating the way you used to?

Would not go back, was eating too much rubbish and too much as well, was not good for us long term, not on a strict diet like a lot of you on here, but the NHS diet sheet does work for me for the time being, might change in the future as this disease progresses.

    Good HbA1c Results

Yes still planning to keep losing weight, Doctor wants us to get down to 14 stone, so have another stone to lose but going by all the bmi charts I could get down to 12 stone, so we will see. I am now off the Metformin that I was on but still on Ramipril to lower blood pressure, but think it...

    Good HbA1c Results

On a diet that works for me, I have cut down on carbs but not to very low levels just try and stay below 250g of carbs all day, tend to try and have 2 days a week at a max of about 170g of carbs, not on a high fat diet as still on meds to get my blood pressure in normal range. I got to know by...

    Don't you just hate that!!

I have the same trouble, they won't tell you the results over the phone, end up having to either see the Doc or getting a telephone appointment, but saying that this last time did eventually get a email with the results after asking the question.

    Change lancet everytime you test?

Yes to washing your hands before you test, as for the lancet one of my diabetic nurse's said that it was down to your preference how often you change it, guess it depends on how regular you test, I only change mine once it starts to hurt a bit more. But as I only test once or twice a day a...

    High readings

I just found it such a shock to be so high, after being diagnosed I have changed the way I eat and live and was testing regular after 4 months had my HbA1c checked again and was in non diabetic range so over the last 4 months have only tested very occasionally but have kept the diet the same and...

    High readings

Hello all had a scare after doing a Radom glucose test and was horrified to read 14 mml, it has taken about 20 hrs to come down but now not so stressed as it was down to 5 mml before dinner and only 5.2 mml 2 hrs after eating dinner. I wonder what affect it will have on my HbA1c test in a couple...

I have a question on how other type 2's cope when they have a cold

It's not to do with the sugar, lemslip and beechams cold remedies and ibuprofen, all off because of the medication I take to control high blood pressure. Pharmacist said paracetamol is ok when I phoned them earlier so have to go and get some, but just wondered what other people find that works...

I have a question on how other type 2's cope when they have a cold

Hi all, I have only been type 2 for 5 months and have caught a cold from a member at work and have now found out that all the pain relief tablets and drinks that I would of used in the past I can not take them now because of the medication we are on. So just wondered what other people do to help?

Low fat or full fat dairy?

I try and stick to low fat diet foods, as not only being type 2 diabetic my blood pressure is sky high as well and on meds to control that as well and if I have the full fat versions it increases my blood pressure, cheese seems to have a big affect not too sure why it spikes so much. Think you...
