Thank you @AndBreathe. Hubbie is actually coping fairly well as he is a really positive person as well as being quite laid back. He accepts his diabetes although is still mystified why he got it as there is no diabetes in his family at all and he has always been really healthy. I think that I...

thanks @daddys1 and @Daibell Thanks for replying. Hubbie takes no medication other than for his diabetes., so no statins. He takes one basal dose of Lantus at night, 10 units and Metformin twice a day. He still has a reserve of insulin of his own but it is probably reducing. I guess he has...

Foods that you thought would spike you surprisingly dont

Funnily enough my hubbie (type 1 on one smallish does of lantus and metformin twice a day) a generous glass of red wine with it and blood sugars ok in the morning. Anyone else find that?

So what's your OH eating tonight ?

Wow..congrats on the weight loss Enclave. I wish I couldn't eat chocolate! I buy the 85% dark one for my hubbie now and that can last him quite some time then I buy the milk for me, to get the 2 for £2 deal you understand, and it lasts about an hour!!!.

So what's your OH eating tonight ?

Hi Enclave My type 1 hubbie (diagnosed earlier this year) has had to reduce his carbs in order to gain better control of his BS. In doing so I have also started to eat less carbs but because he is also eating full fat everything, I am not really losing weight. Mind you its probably more to...

A newly diagnosed review of the forum

Hi Ian DP I'd rate it same as you - 5 out of 5. As a wife supporting a fairly recently diagnosed type 1 hubbie, this has been such a great support and place for knowledge. We knew almost nothing about diabetes in January this year when he was diagnosed. It's great to read all the tips...

    Hello

Well folks.... hubbie just got his Hba1C today. Last time it was 44. This time 41. How can he be diabetic type 1 and almost be in the non diabetic range?! There is nothing straight forward with this condition eh? Are there any other type 1s out there with that kind of reading?

Appointment with diabetic nurse / pain management clinic / hip & knee consultant

Morning Molly Re your query about the Hb1Ac test, it might be worth asking your diabetic nurse about this. If you have it done when he comes back from hols, where he has not perhaps been as strict, it may skew the result. I'm no expert and some others more learned than me on here may be able...

Appointment with diabetic nurse / pain management clinic / hip & knee consultant

Hi Molly It's progress for sure that he is now not opposed to testing BG bit major fluctuations in readings is not good. Walking together would be good as @Donnellydogs says. My hubbie has always been fit and we have 2 energetic kids to keep us going but when he is a bit high, say 9 or 10, he...

Appointment with diabetic nurse / pain management clinic / hip & knee consultant

Molly, this sounds SO familiar....... . @CarbsRok is right. When hubbie was diagnosed in January, and was given metformin to take, his BG would not come down below 15 fasting. He was cutting down on carbs, eating really healthily, exercising more and basically doing everything he could...

Appointment with diabetic nurse / pain management clinic / hip & knee consultant

Hey Molly @donnellysdogs is right. He needs to face up the fact that he has diabetes and if he continues in this way, it could have dire consequences. He cannot continue to stick his head in the sand. I can tell it's really affecting you now too. He is an adult and not a child, yet you are...

    Hello - Husband newly diagnosed
