    Tiredness does it stop?

Hi, don't worry about calories. Some years ago I got a book called Carbs & Cals. It's got pictures of food portions with nutrition numbers including carbs. I burn fat instead of carbs so I'm interested in "good" fat content too. That's my energy source. I can see where you're at because I was...

Type 2 Diabetics wake up at 3:00 am ?

For at least 10 years, around when I was diagnosed with T2, I have woken up once or twice every night and have had to pee at least once. I always assumed it's connected with diabetes. On the few occasions that I wear a Libre sensor my blood sugar shows flat around 5 all night, so if I can...

Does this sound like Neuropathy? Sudden burning sensations in upper legs following improved glucose control.

My feet are sometimes purple-ish, one ankle is getting steadily bigger than the other, they always feel hot (which is nice out of doors in winter) and I always feel I'm wearing flip-flops. I pass the diabetes foot test every year (we may draw our own conclusions from that, or not), and a...

In defence of low carb subs

Oo, dark chocolate orange, hazelnut & crunchy salted caramel? The last one tastes a bit odd but it was cheaper ;)

    Hello

Thanks, I owe my good health to the miracle of this forum in reducing glucose levels by not raising them too much in the first place, and the miracle of a modern drug in reducing my cancer. Are you thinking about bringing your blood sugar down a bit through your diet?

    Hi Eddie, how're you doing?

    Feeling down

Sounds like you've had a hard journey for quite a long time and it's no wonder it's getting you down. I don't eat any of the "harmful" things you list but I do eat a lot of fish, eggs, cheese, cream and yoghurt as well as meat and veg. I can also get low-carb bread, rice and pasta. They're not...

    Supplements to prevent night cramps.

I used to get calf cramp (legs, not bovine) regularly until I started drinking lots of water twice a day with chemo pills. Plus a glassful as usual at lunch & tea. Coincidence? Maybe not.

    Double cream

Double cream every time for me, in coffee and on berry fruit, and in some soups. I used to add butter to coffee and use a little blender stick (Ikea) to froth it. Or maybe it sort of emulsifies it. Mrs DeeJay now adds a little double cream to her skim milk in coffee. We spread the love!

    diabetes neuropathy

Hi. I started to develop neuropathy in my feet 10 years ago when I felt constant pressure and tingling under my toes. These days it feel as if I'm wearing long socks and flip-flops. My feet feel (but aren't) constantly warm, and hot when wearing shoes. I asked my GP about it and she referred me...

    Desert options

Agree with all above. Mug cake: mix thoroughly in a large mug half a teaspoon each of bicarb, sweetener (optional) and cocoa powder (not drinking chocolate), an egg and a generous teaspoon of peanut butter. Microwave for 32 seconds (weird, but that's what works for me). Pour on double cream. Add...

    T2D Friendly Products

I get the sort of stuff mentioned above from Srsly, Carbzone and Ketoroma, and I like the wraps, and the fake pasta if it's given time to soak in whatever sauce or soup I'm having. Carbzone are always out of the fake rice so I haven't tried it and I've gone off the cauliflower substitute. The...

    STATIN'S

I've taken statins for 8 years and my cholesterol overall is 4.7. I stopped taking statins for 9 months with my gp's knowledge and the number went up to 7, so I resumed and it's back to under 5 these days. I use this breakdown gizmo: https://www.hughcalc.org/chol-si.php There is a ton of...

Type 2 Bit of a mystery

Thank you for your kind responses, which resolve the anomaly. Libre 2, when I can afford it, does record higher averages, typically around 6-7 as against 5-6 six months ago. But the Libres have always been more optimistic with their HbA1c estimates, so I just try to tread the middle path.

Perhaps you could share what CLL is and maybe we could Sorry, it's in my signature which you have to toggle to see. Leukaemia, basically.

Type 2 Bit of a mystery

Hello again to anyone who remembers me. If your memory is THAT good you'll see I've abandoned my pipe and supercilious expression in my avatar. I am now Mischief, the next door cat. When I began to feel properly ill with CLL I didn't bother so much with LCHF, but the low-carb philosophy has...

    As its Christmas...?

Happy Christmas and a peaceful new year to everyone on the forum, and once again my thanks for setting me on the path to remission. I don't sign in much these days because whenever I think of anything to say, someone else always says it better. Tomorrow Mrs DeeJay & I are having a pub Xmas...
