    Red cabbage

I used to always get the Waitrose red cabbage until I noticed the carb content !!! I know if you prepare it yourself it would be a lot less but still surprised me. https://www.ocado.com/webshop/product/Red-Cabbage-Waitrose/22740011

Apples on a low carb diet

You most certainly can have an apple or berries on a low carb diet. Yes, you'll use a large portion of your allowance ( depending what that is ) but it's personal choice. To tell someone they can never eat a piece of fruit on a LCHF diet makes it unnecessarily restrictive and difficult to stick...

    ITV News: Misrepresentation of Diabetes

I agree, if you need a tax break on your hypo treatments, something in your diabetes management is going seriously wrong.

    Zero Coke

The fountain style system of diet coke etc is a little risky as the staff can press the wrong button but if they are used correctly, diet coke is fine, not full of sugar or carbs at all.

    ITV News: Misrepresentation of Diabetes

I think it's just another angle the Gov't has seen to enable themselves to make more money and raise taxes. If they were really interested in our health, why not make healthier options cheaper ?

    Forum questions: additional forums?

I'm one of those lazy people that only ever looks at New Posts or Recent Posts but for some, these subsections are really helpful. Also, although there may not be a huge amount of posts, there may be lots of views ? It certainly doesn't bother me anyway.

    Meter readings confusion

Although I completely agree with this the fact that certain meters read consistently high or low does make a difference if on insulin and are a driver. We are all aware of the DVLA guidelines and how strict they are ( as they should be ) so a meter that read lower than it should can make a...

    Type 2 now Type 1

No, unfortunately not. It is the auto-immune variety. Not reversible but very controllable :-)

    Type 2 now Type 1

My guess would be that you were T1 all along, although possibly in the honeymoon phase ( Google it ). Quite a few here were originally deemed to be T2 but after GAD test later found out they were T1. The most important thing now is to get your BG levels under control. Hopefully you will see...

    TV cr*p about diabetes

At least the people in the village know if they are having serious, crushing chest pain to get along to the Co-op quickly lol :-)

Statins - good or bad - what does the research say?

And interesting that you think nobody else noticed...... Pretty sure Oldvatr was not the first. What is published is rarely the full story.

Statins - good or bad - what does the research say?

We'll agree to disagree. So far, you have provided nothing that is any more credible than links I could provide. It's often difficult for some to see the big picture if their minds are already set. This thread is hardly scientific but it seems you are the exception rather than the rule :-)

Statins - good or bad - what does the research say?

I agree, those links you provided are also on the internet :-) They mean no more than links I could provide with opposing views.

Statins - good or bad - what does the research say?

What do you call a "small percentage" and where do you get your numbers ? There are quite a few on this thread alone who would disagree. The internet is full of stories of people suffering muscle pains and worse. It seems to me it may be a little more than a small percentage but I have no...

Statins - good or bad - what does the research say?

@Osidge, clearly you are in favour of stations which is cool. That alone doesn't make them safe. Far more than any other drug on the market, statins divide opinion not only with those who take them but those that prescribe them too. There is no evidence available as yet that would convince me...

Statins - good or bad - what does the research say?

And there's the problem....what solid research do you speak of ? For every one you highlight, there will be an opposing study.

Statins - good or bad - what does the research say?

Well, neither of us would know as much of the on going research is as yet unpublished and in some cases contradictory. However, the trend in public opinion ( not scientific research ), and amongst the medical profession is that of growing suspicion and concern. 60 or so years ago, smoking wasn't...
