Update - went out for posh (2 Michelin stars) meal last night including bubbly, red wine 4 courses and coffee - tested blood when I got home - 5.4! Need to test now though too - what's the betting it has crept right up overnight ?

Well I ate some stuff (bacon, eggs, sausage, tomatoes followed by square of dark chocolate) and went to bed at 4.3! Woke up at 5.0 which is a lot better than previous days after food! Sent from my SM-A510F using Diabetes.co.uk Forum mobile app

Newly diagnosed at 30 - hello everyone!

Hi I was diagnosed type 2 at only 21 and not humungously over weight at 13 stone. The difference is you found this place and now have the tools to deal with it whereas I listened to my diabetic nurse and thought that it was inevitable that I would end up on insulin! My advice would be to try low...

    My latest trial!

Thanks dm2-one here's hoping! I am not far off finishing my fast (4 hours) and blood levels consistently 4.6 to 4.8 since last night (no dawn phenomenon when I haven't eaten the night before!) Even forgot to take my Metformin last night but it made no difference (presumably as no good to deal...

    My latest trial!

Started my second 47 hour fast today and it is proving more difficult than last week - can't wait til bedtime to come so I can get on to day 2! On the plus side no insulin taken since 12th August and not had a blood sugar reading over 7.5 yet! Sent from my SM-A510F using Diabetes.co.uk Forum...

Not quite such good results over the last 2 days - usually starting first thing at 6.5-6.8 then up towards 7.5 before coming back down (yesterday to 4.8 before dinner and back to 4.8 within 2 hours). Today it has only got down to 5.9 by 2pm and I am due to have a meal at 3pm (trying to do a...

    My latest trial!

Hi all It has been (ahem!) At least two years probably since I last posted but here goes! I found Dr Fung online and it all made such sense I did a 47 hour day fast the next day. I followed up with 2 days of skipping breakfast, late lunch (3pm) and dinner by 7pm. I reduced my insulin from 12...

21 year old, newly diagnosed, type 2!

Hi Claire I was diagnosed type 2 at the same age as you after finishing uni ! I listened to the doctors but did virtually ignore my levels and never took any readings - my medication crept up and up but they reassured me that this was inevitable and not related to my diet! I ended up on insulin...

    Back on track...

Hi all thought I would join in on this thread as I am also "back on track" with a vengeance! 12 weeks in to low carb and 2 weeks into a regular gym routine and my type 2 diabetes previously controlled by 3 x slow release metformin and 14 units of insulin twice a day is now more than under...

    Really struggling. Type2

Well I managed a very small jog last night and the result was a 5.9 this morning and a 5.5 just before lunch so hopefully I am back on the straight and narrow!

4.6 is great! Keep in the mid fours and fives and you won't go far wrong! Usually a couple of numbers up after meals so mid 6s and early sevens are ok 'post prandial' as they call it

    Really struggling. Type2

Tina It is probably a false hypo based on your usually higher numbers! But still feels like a hypo I know! It will take you a while to adjust to the lower numbers but you will get there! I may well have a walk tonight to try and address my own rising levels - although I got a 5.2 before lunch...
