    Accu-Chek mobile and Bluetooth

I have an Accu-Chek mobile and Bluetooth attachment. Two problems: 1. Often I receive 3 or 4 errors in a row. I think that by tapping the finger very briefly onto the strip helps, but I still get errors. 2. When I try to sync to my phone I usually end up having to disconnect and re-connect...

    I Am Totally Confused

Very interesting that you were vegetarian when diagnosed with diabetes. (This goes against Dr. Neal Barnard's teaching.) I agree with you about Jardiance. I certainly would never consider taking it again. nolly53

    I Am Totally Confused

Hi Krystyna23040, Thanks for the reply. Perhaps I misled you slightly... whilst I could follow the Diabetes UK Healthy eating sheet, I have no intention to. Like you, my diabetes progressed simply because I did follow it. In fact the only time my diabetes has improved is when I read Dr David...

    I Am Totally Confused

Thanks EllieM. I find it amazing that Diabetic nurses and dieticians are distributing mis-information as in (1). I am interested in LCHF but Dr. Neal Barnard of PCRM certainly makes a case for no fat, not just for treating diabetes but lots of other illnesses. I will be interested to see...

    I Am Totally Confused

I AM TOTALLY CONFUSED I have been diabetic since 2002. I was told that my diabetes would progress and so it did. First Metformin then I started using insulin 7 years ago. The dosage was gradually increased. Four years ago I read Dr David Cavan’s book “Reversing your Diabetes”. As I result I...

Jardiance newbie, low carb ideas please.

The best change I ever made was to breakfast - I have 2 poached eggs with a small slice of toast. On occasions I add some mushrooms, tomatoes and/or bacon fried in one cal spray. Berries are great - if you check out bags of frozen berries at the supermarket you will see that the sugar and carb...

Fasting and insulin dosage for type 2

.. and I presume that whilst fasting there is no need to take any insulin. Nolly53

Fasting and insulin dosage for type 2

That sounds like great advice. Thanks for the info. Clearly for patients not on insulin, fasting carries much less risk, but this suggestion gives me some re-assurance. The only carb that I have for breakfast is a slice of toast, complemented by 2 poached eggs, bacon tomatoes and mushrooms...

Fasting and insulin dosage for type 2

Thanks, My last HbA1c was 57. About two thirds of my BG readings are < 10 with the odd one less than 5. I could bring them down with more insulin but am reluctant to having watched Fung. I may try reducing carbs first before trying fasting. Nolly53

Fasting and insulin dosage for type 2

I am a type 2 diabetic taking 2 Metformin 500mg with breakfast along with 18 units Novamix 30 and the same with the evening meal. I successfully managed to lose 10kg and halve my insulin dosage a couple of years ago after researching the Newcastle trials and reading David Cavan's book. Things...

    Forgetting if I took insulin?

I know that this does not answer your question, but it might help someone. I often forget whether or not I have taken my insulin. Now I put my needles in my pill box along with my Metformin.

    Skin rash on face

Despite having been diabetic for 10 years before this happened for the first time, the first occurrence was after returning from Africa to a roasting summer here. I know that doxycycline can trigger skin rashes so it assumed that it was the cause - perhaps it did trigger it. Every other...

    Skin rash on face

Thanks Thanks. I think that one of my kids may have Diprobase. I will give it a go.

    Skin rash on face

From time to time I develop a skin rash for want of a better description on my face. I get red lines running out from the edges of my mouth to my chin (approximately mutton chops shape) and the skin along my chin becomes extremely sore, itchy, dry and flaky. This occurs quite suddenly. I...

Sweeteners and Their Role in Raising Blood Sugar Levels ?

Whilst putting a well known sugar substitute in my coffee today I was confronted by a friend with the remark - "They are bad for you - I saw it on Trust me I'm a doctor". I have just watched the programme. For a start, it wasn't saccharin that I was taking - it was Candarel which is Aspartame...

Has Anyone Had a Good Experience of Metformin?

I have been on 2 x 500g with breakfast and 2 x 500g at teatime for probably 10 years. I am also on insulin. Apart from a "metallic" taste I am not aware of side effects. However, when I forget to take it, I notice a significant difference in my bg readings.
