    How can I control this?

I had bad chest trouble in 2016. Put me on those prednisolone things. Doctor never said a thing even though he knew I was type 1. I googled it & it says these disgusting steroids can induce diabetes in people who aren't diabetic. I was living on cheese for a week. Chest trouble, get to a salt...

Strong question- what do you think caused your diabetes (type 1)

I got way to stressed when doing exams. Strangely I actually perform well when stressed. But there is no doubt in my mind that stress caused it in me 38 years ago. Read anything on stress & it can cause all sorts of damage to you. So learn a universal law statement I found out about.. "It's only...

    Six / twelve month checkup:

I'm happy driving to/from work or to the shops & have been on holiday to cornwall but I just wouldn't like the risk of hypo if I drove for my job. The pressure of getting the job done etc would probably take priority in my mind & so more risk. But with a cgm that would change everything. Cheers.

Diabetics added to the shielding list as of today

Could well be. Probably the suumption that T2D people are overweight & eat rubbish. I'm T1D so don't expect a letter. (Edited by moderator)

    Six / twelve month checkup:

Thanks for that. I got myself in a money mess a few years back so have been looking at all the different cgm's with envy! I work at Ocado near Tamworth but not as a driver. I do drive but wouldn't like to drive for work without a cgm. I live 13 miles away 1 junction up the M42 so an easy drive...

    Six / twelve month checkup:

I had the pfizer jab 2 days ago, so at least I'm less at risk but I work 38.5 hours a week at Ocado & got bills to pay so covid is just another nasty to me, stuff it :)

    Six / twelve month checkup:

I haven't been seen since Jan 2019. Wonder if this is a record. Living in Leicestershire, go to Coalville hospital which is a Wed morning outpost for Leicester general infirmary. I've had T1D for over 37 years & am ok & accept that Covid cases have took over but after talking to a girl at Ocado...

Diabetics added to the shielding list as of today

I've had T1 for 37 years & since Oct I've worked full time at Ocado. I was told that if diabetes is well controlled then I am no more likely to get any other nasty. I've not got a shielding letter & do not expect to get one. I'd bin it if I did, I've got rent to pay & visits to Greggs on days...

Are our lives set to change ?!

Fair point. But have you ever hit a vein by mistake? Surely the insulin will be straight in the blood stream & acting quick? That's what I'm saying. Maybe 100 times injecting before a meal then this is fine, but just on that odd occasion the insulin gets in the blood stream quick, then sugar...

    Alkaline water

I've had type 1 for over 31 years. I had problems due to being ill, maybe flu? last winter. A bad night hypo happened. I sussed that by setting alarm clock for 2 am & found sugar levels dipping before going high in the morning. Basically I wasn't eating enough before bed, it was the novorapid...

Are our lives set to change ?!

Blimey, generally I inject after eating. I was told back in 1984 to inject 10 minutes before eating. I'm convinced this is dangerous as now & then insulin gets to work too quick & sugar level can plummet before any food is digested. I would only inject before if I know sugar levels are high. If...

    Constant Glucose Monitoring

Thanks for all the advice on here, much appreciated. I've just been looking deeper in to the forum(s) & found more stuff on cgm's. Hence I'll give them a good read too.

    Constant Glucose Monitoring

Thanks for that. I've kept all the info I've found about the g4 & navigator in a word doc so I've got the name of the english supplier of the g4. I'll give them a ring once xmas is out the way, xmas has come at the wrong time for me!

    Constant Glucose Monitoring

I had my annual diabetes check at Coalville hospital last week & they did mention about being to borrow one for a week. I said no but maybe it might be a good idea to take them up on that. The abbott libre is a new product so I didn't think many would have it yet. It's an alternative to normal...

    Constant Glucose Monitoring

I'll defo look in to alternative long acting insulins. Unfortunately it's not a one off. Sometimes I have woke on the floor after falling out of bed. Not always hypo but I may have been an hour or two before. Glucagon lifts the sugar levels & my mental tape recorder is off when too hypo. Hence I...

    Constant Glucose Monitoring

Been divorced 9 years but I stayed in the house & my 2 children stayed with me. Problem is my room is downstairs. I've always been the sort of person to look for advice when I know I need it, like now! Generally over the years I've done ok. I played football for 12 years, did the great north...

    Constant Glucose Monitoring

Cheers. I've been on novorapid for over 9 years now but I mix it with insulatard. I could change that I suppose. The night time hypos are a sod.

    Constant Glucose Monitoring

No, I've always just injected & tested blood sugar between 2 & 5 times a day. Interesting you say the navigator not very good. I've been reading loads of reviews & both the navigator (2) & dexcom g4 seem to have good reviews. I want it just for the night time to be honest. Years ago night time...

    Constant Glucose Monitoring

Hi all. I've been type1 for nearly 31 years. The one thing that would improve things is to know what my blood sugar levels are at any time. I sound bad here, but it bugs me that after 31 years almost nothing has changed. Pricking my **** finger & put a drop of blood on a stick. Same 31 years...
