    Full Fat Greek Yogurt

My favourite is Lancashire Farm Greek Style Yoghurt, 9.3% fat, Free-Range bio-live milk. Comes in 1kg pots, very well priced, from Iceland.

is Homogenised milk better for us?

I try and avoid un-homogenised milk, not for any health reasons, but for simple practical ones. The process is mechanical, not involving heat or any chemicals and stops the milk fats from depositing on your plastic milk carton necks [who buys milk in glass bottles these days?]. I always use...

    Statins and type 1

I'm a former GP. I've had type 1.5 for 10 years. I was very statin sensitive and 10mg of Simvastatin reduced my total cholesterol to 3.91, at one point. After 18mths on statins, I began getting side-effects. As the onset was insidious, it took some time for the penny to drop. The most profound...

    Libre sensor tape?

I've just started my 4th sensor and so my experience is not vast. The previous 3 each lasted the full 14 days. I've found Supadrug Adhesive Dressings 5.3cm x 7cm work well, some lasting the full 14 days. I like the way the gauze patch prevents the dressing sticking to the sensor, which is very...

    Libre availability

I've noticed recently difficulty in managing my levels, I think I'm producing less endogenous insulin. Sticks are imperfect - I decided to try FreeStyleLibre, self-funded if necessary. My GP surgery Rx Receptionist tells me that Wales NHS have not yet made up their mind on the issue [Typical!]...

    Climate change food calculator

This is parrot-speak, not an understanding of Science. If you're so sure of your "data", please forward me evidence of how CO2 can influence Global Temperatures. I don't expect a reply because I know that the whole Scam is based on money-grabbing Climate Academics & their political...

    Climate change food calculator

Take a look at some data in this 8 min YouTube video, exposing aspects of the Global Warming Scam:

    Climate change food calculator

Yes, correct. There's been a modest ~0.4°C "Global" temperature rise in the late 80's, ending around 2004, stationary to 2016 & now declining for past 3 years. There's a huge self-interested network of academics, politicians and 'believers' who have resuscitated a decrepit 1896 theory on CO2...

    Meter accuracy

So what? These are identical results that happened yesterday.

    Meter accuracy

Yesterday, I checked my pre-evening meal BG and it was 7.3. Interrupted by a phone call, instead of giving myself an Insulin jab, I repeated the BG. I was using a TRUUyou device. The 2nd result was exactly the same - 7.3. I'm not claiming that this result is highly significant, it's mildly...

    Running woes

Wurst, you don't seem to publish your BMI? I run 5kms, mid-week & Sundays. I do occasional 5Km Parkruns, which are more challenging than running against the clock. I'm a bit of an oldie but I never run into O2 debt or have to stop. My BMI is 23.4 and I think that carrying any excess weight is...

    Breakfast.....cereals

Yes, well done. If that suits you. Flaxseed might help. However, the topic was "Breakfast Cereals" and I would not endorse green vegetables for breakfast, although we eat loads otherwise, especially when our allotment is in season. I

    Breakfast.....cereals

I've posted before that a very low carb diet comes with great control benefits but that proteins/fat contain no fibre, and that's likely to cause chaos in the loo department! Fibre tends to bring a carb load with it. I go for a mixture of 50/50 medium cut Oat Bran with Chia seeds [45G suits me]...

    Breakfast

You cannot get away from the problem that a low-carb diet will not provide enough fibre and loo-time will become an issue. I have moved to a 50/50 mixture of Oat Bran/Chia seeds, made into a porridge. It's very quick. In my case, mix 25g of each in a large cereal bowl, add boiling water, leave...

    100% Cocoa Chocolate

Montezuma Absolute Black is just great for me, with <0.5g % of sugars, it doesn't upset my control. I've tried 99% Cocoa Lindt and it tastes awful, and comes in micro 50g bars at a price!

    Insomnia and diabetes

There is evidence that the population in general is Magnesium deficient and that this is more relevant to those with diabetes, as Mg++ is anti-inflammatory. Mg++ blood testing is pretty useless as it doesn't measure the total pool. There is evidence that Mg++ relieves anxiety and promotes sleep...

Handling the common cold when diabetic

No. He has a troubling cough and is asking for sugar-free anti-cough advice. I have used codeine tablets in this way, for instance with "Khumbu Cough" and I understand the pharmacology.

Handling the common cold when diabetic

Trollhunter, try Co-Codamol as a cough suppressant, up to the 8x500mg Paracetamol limit. Codeine is an antitussive, particularly if you can get your hands on the 30/500 tablets, rather than the OTC 8/500 OTC version.

Are People Here Still Using The Same Lancet More Than Once?

Yes, I'm sure that frequent changes of lancet are unnecessary. The lancet holder is often a flimsy device and would't tolerate too many dismantlings. I probably change my lancet ~3 monthly. I've never had any hint of a septic sampling.
