    Hospital Stay

I am now 24w+3 with first baby - can't believe I've got this far!! I have to travel over an hour to the hospital where I see the diabetic consultants and where I will be having the baby. My question is: how long should I expect to stay in hospital and also what should I pack in my hospital...

Shazza98 have your diabetes ante natal team not advised on carb ratios? The team I see always look through my diary and often adjust the ratios if I'm running high/low?

    Unplanned Pregnancy and High HBA1C

I had the confirmation scan at 6/7 weeks and had the 12 week scan last week - turns out i was 13+1 so that was nice to knock a week off! The team at Derry hospital are brilliant - it's nice to have someone tell me exactly what to do with doses etc! Hopefully no problems will show up on the 20...

    Unplanned Pregnancy and High HBA1C

Are you on injections or the pump? And do you have the Libre? Even though we have to do blood tests, i still find the Libre really useful to see patterns and try and work out why bg is going up or down. Congratulations also by the way! x

    Unplanned Pregnancy and High HBA1C

Thanks so much for your reply lca291 - you have nearly made me cry! #emotionalwreck haha! I switched from Levemir to Lantus around two years ago, so they may switch me back? The nurse didnt mention anything when she was on the phone but I haven't had the first appointment yet. I did ask her...

    Unplanned Pregnancy and High HBA1C

I saw your thread Ellie_Wilko and thought you were similar to me! I had the nurse on the phone yesterday to ask a few questions before my booking in appointment next Thursday - she said to lower my basal from 36 units to 32 - I said I was reluctant to do that as I thought I'd end up high over...

Just found out I am in the same boat too! Can't help but worry, even though I know that will do no good! HBA1C was 9.1 last month - and I reckon I must be about 5 weeks now.

    Unplanned Pregnancy and High HBA1C

In need of motivation tips and tricks...

Hi Pavlos I know that the hba1c is a problem and am trying to change this. To be honest I've been through a rebel phase and have only just been back to see the diabetic nurse this week. Taking things one step at a time and trying to get things sorted one day at a time. I'm type 1, currently...
