    Help

Hi I am tagging @gemma6549 hope I have done that right?! She was very young like you when she had neuropathy but she is OK now, she might be able to give advice? What everyone has said here is right, you must demand to see a diabetes specialist and need to get your sugars under control the best...

    Help in dealing with neuropathy

Thank you so much. Saw neurologist yesterday and he says I have small fibre neuropathy and it will only get worse over the years. It is already very painful so I am really miserable! I am 37yrs old with 2 young kids so I am pretty worried. Have been taking ALA but no improvement so will give...

Diabetic Neuropathy - Burning Feet and pain - Help Required

Hi @Omnipod Saw Diabetic Consultant today. He took my concerns very seriously and did a number of checks on my feet and legs. I passed all the tests and he is happy there is no sign of severe nerve damage. He agrees the symptoms are neuropathy and says anxiety will make them worse. He wasn't...

Diabetic Neuropathy - Burning Feet and pain - Help Required

Nearly everything you are saying is what I am going through, it is quite bizarre. What are Niacin and acetyl l-carnitine? Do you know if Vitamin B complex tablets covers the B12? I also read somewhere that too much B6 can make neuropathy worse so I am unsure whether to take Vit B complex as...

Diabetic Neuropathy - Burning Feet and pain - Help Required

Hi @Omnipod I am following this thread as I am experiencing the same as you (sorry I know you want to see some advice or positive outcomes rather than other people saying me too). I also cannot bear it for much longer and a lot of stuff online is focused on permanent pain relief. I am only 36...

Alpha Lipoic Acid and Flu Jab

http://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/use-of-alpha-lipoic-acid-in-treating-neuropathy.55996/#post-683346 see 5th post down. However think he is talking about a more hardcore method (every 3-4 hours).

Alpha Lipoic Acid and Flu Jab

Sorry also meant to say there must be a lot of diabetics taking ALA and having the flu jab and the fact that there aren't many obvious results being brought up for this suggests it is not a common problem (in doing both).

Alpha Lipoic Acid and Flu Jab

Thanks for replies. @robert72 I am not sure as I am taking amitryptiline too, but kind of don't want to come off ALA in case they are helping! I was just going to take them for 3 months as I think I read this somewhere that this was the optimum amount for neuropathy (along with avoiding spikes...

Alpha Lipoic Acid and Flu Jab

Thanks, when I asked a boot pharmacist about ALA she had never heard of it! Diabetes Doc had never heard of it being used for neuropathy and when I was in A&E for an unrelated issue earlier this year the consultant didn't know it either and said to save my money! So I feel a bit awkward...

Alpha Lipoic Acid and Flu Jab

Hi I take Alpha Lipoic Acid for my neuropathy symptoms (600mg /day) and I saw a post by @jack412 that it shouldn't be taken within 3 months of a flu vaccine. Can anyone add more to this please? I am worried as I had the flu jab 2 months ago and have been taking ALA for a month. My feet are bad...

Very scared - anyone have any positive nerve pain/neuropathy stories please

Not tried meditation because I am deaf so I am not sure how I would be able to listen to the video, especially if eyes have to be shut etc! But there must be something I can do with subtitles. Going to try low carb but I have to eat vegetarian stuff in the office (long story!!) so this is going...

Very scared - anyone have any positive nerve pain/neuropathy stories please

Thank you @Juicyj have tears in my eyes now! Such a nice message thank you. I think with the nerve thing I can only focus on the cases where it gets a lot lot worse, especially when I am feeling the symptoms on a daily basis. My HbA1C has always been low but it doesn't show the swings between...

Very scared - anyone have any positive nerve pain/neuropathy stories please

That's really interesting! thanks for that, I am often unexpectedly high when I get to work (without breakfast), I just thought this was me over treating a hypo on waking (even though I don't take much sugar) and/or milky coffee before I leave the house. I thought the liver dump happened...

Very scared - anyone have any positive nerve pain/neuropathy stories please

THanks for asking Lucy, I have actually made a promise to myself to stop googling for positive outcomes as I keep reading awful stories. I have an appointment with the Diabetic consultant next week but there is a long wait for the neurologist :-( In the meantime I am trying to keep to very low...

Very scared - anyone have any positive nerve pain/neuropathy stories please

Thank you to you both for taking the time to read this and reply. I am sorry @Dibbles1 to hear about your spinal injuries. I will try those remedies as I was taking the A version of Alpha Lipoic Acid. I've not heard of vitamin e 200 iu so that could be something to try. It is very encouraging...

Hi I am really after some positive stories please about how people have reduced their nerve pain. I am 36, Type 1 for 11 years and have recently developed painful peripheral neuropathy in my feet, I also have ulnar nerve compression so my hand goes numb at night (none of this actually confirmed...
