    Post Meal Spike

Personally, I don't think 7-8 is EVER better. Those are potentially damaging levels (though obviously not a necessarily huge problem if not prolonged). Why would you prefer that? Are you worried about dropping later? I aim to be between 4 and 6.8 as much of the time as I can - obviously it...

Type 1: Computer says no !!!

Yes. I ended up leaving my last GP practice because of this. They usually did relent in the end, but I genuinely used to have to spend hours each month explaining to them that I needed more than 50 strips a month. After having to take time off work for yet ANOTHER appointment to fight about it...

    Sleep issues with Diabetes

Yes - I definitely get this. And it's not related to hypos (or hypers) - I have Libre and/or CGM, so can tell that I am pretty stable overnight. It's quite weird!

    Question on Levemir's longevity

When I was on MDI, my levemir doses were a bit more than yours and they still didn't last anywhere near 16-18 hours - I'd say barely 12-14. Pretty common with levemir, I think. Personally, I found Lantus a lot better (longer lasting and flatter action), but I know that not everyone loves it.

    Staying positive

I think I'm probably a natural optimist, so maybe am not best placed to answer this, but generally, if things happen, they happen - it wouldn't occur to me to beat myself up over high blood sugars (or whatever) - I just do what I need to do and get on. I'm lucky to have lots of other things...

Should Lucozade be exempted from the sugar tax?

I don't use Lucozade as a hypo treatment because I don't like it... I use Ribena sometimes (though there're all kinds of threats about reducing the sugar levels, which would be annoying) and jelly babies or similar sometimes (which are a bit less effective but much tastier). The tax is at such a...

    Advice on insulin pumps

I was also a bit iffy about wearing something all the time, but, having got my sweaty little hands on a lovely Omnipod a bit more than a year ago, I wouldn't give it up! As @noblehead says above, Input have some good advice on the NICE guidelines for funding (no @liverdie - it has nothing to do...

    Energy gel vs lucozade

Some gels are designed to quick release (like lucozade or similar would do) and some are designed to have a slower release over a longer period (for endurance type activities). Not sure about these specific ones - you might have to do a bit of experimentation!

    Sports massage training question

I'm guessing this is about the dangers of injuring someone with neuropathy...?

    PWD2016 Conference - Nottingham 27-28 February

I'm going and I'm happy to see that there is going to be a bake off, so should be no shortage of cake :)

    Injecting in public

On MDI I ALWAYS injected in public and it barely attracted a second glance... The only problems I had were when wearing dresses and injecting into my tummy (and even that wasn't insurmountable).

    help please?

Not necessarily - some pumps (mine included - Omnipod) tell you what you're getting, not the reduction, so when yours would say -20%, mine would say 80%...

Freestyle Libre teaching me sooo much about my T2 and RH

No - but I'll have a hunt! I'm pretty sure there were a few people that tried Libre on the FB group (are you on it?) before their children started with it too - I'll see whether I can find any...

Freestyle Libre teaching me sooo much about my T2 and RH

Libre is a great tool (I've had mine for more than a year now and I love it lots) and it's really good that you are also learning so much from it. Your graphs look great - I saw a collection of CGM graphs from non diabetic people a little while ago and they looked very similar in terms of...

Living with someone who is trying to cope with type 1

He will definitely have to carb count (or whatever) and take insulin, but other than that, there's really no reason at all that he shouldn't do everything else that he would have done last year - or whatever seems "normal" to him. If that is booze, chocolate and extreme dinners then so be it. As...

On occasion it won't hurt at all... Possibly be a little bit careful with regular port, though - it's fortified with sugar as well as booze...

    Omnipod new user

It could take a while to get your basals right, I guess... Though presumably you've already tried upping them till you get to a more sensible level?
