    getting back on the wagon

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. Please stop to beat yourself up! Many of us lose track when our situations are extraordinary. Have done that myself. I hope you will find help with the Samaritans! With regard to your blood glucose level, take it slowly. May be it is wise to start to...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

7,8 this morning. Then it became 11.0 two hours after breakfast. I will sit down and try to make a daily food-list today (four meals a day where the carbohydrates is below 80 to 100 g each day all together).

    Diabetes in Sweden

He, he, I don't want to be stout with regard to this topic, but I cannot deny that I get some thoughts when Roytaylorjasonfunglover talkes about celebrities in Sweden. My thoughts are that perhaps the "low carb" diet is a trend among the highly educated, some sort of etiquette among some of the...

    Diabetes in Sweden

I don't know what to say. I think I will quote the following from the presented article: "There’s a great lack of knowledge today on what dietary guidelines are best for long-term health. We simply don’t know."

    Diabetes in Sweden

I hope not (that more and more are likely to be LCHF eaters). "Low carb" diet need more land to produce all the red meat (that could have been used to produce food for starving people in other countries), and the animals do need to go to the "toilet", (sorry, I didn't know how to express myself...

    Diabetes in Sweden

The expression "colonial power" was meant as humor when addressing a neighbor (the UK). Forgot to put in a smiling/laughing icon after that expression. (I didn't check the background or the users of the forum). The only thing I'm sorry for with regard to post #13 is this sentence: "The man...

    Diabetes in Sweden

No, she didn’t, but some others presented some views …. (Se my post #16) I did not direct my post #13 at a person. My opening words were: «When going through this thread I wondered (…)» That is not correct! I have mentioned that some people ignore health advice (I used the words "probably...

    Diabetes in Sweden

Sorry if I gave the impression that it was you, Pinkorcid. It wasn't you, but some of the other posters that gave me that impression. You only wanted to know if the Swedish T2's were informed about "low carb" or not. I cannot speak for Sweden, but I can tell that in Norway we base our nutrition...

    Diabetes in Sweden

When going through this thread I wondered if the British still consider themselves as a colonial power since they dare to talk about another country and it's citizen in that way ... I was shocked! I'm not Swedish,, so no hurt feelings. (I am from Scandinavia, though ;)). Thank you for your...

    Metformin

It is very important that you and your doctor (GP) build a good working alliance. You need to have room for discussions about your progress. I was put on a two days study which is free for every one newly diagnosed where I live. Think I learned something, but consider myself as always on the...

    Feeling desperate.

See my answer #9 above. Of course we have to make the best out of it and are capable to do so, but there may be times when we, like the rest of the general population, should accept that we might be vulnerable. One diagnose doesn't exclude another.

    Feeling desperate.

Yes, it's important to accept that newly diagnosed can be depressed. Can we be that later on? Of course. Life situations vary. People live in different cultures. Not all of these cultures are supportive to chronic illnesses. When I told people that I had got Type 2 Diabetes, the only person who...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

It was 7,4 this morning. Started on Metformin x 3 yesterday (before it was twice a day). Since I have had many days with blood sugar between 8 and 9 this must be an improvement. Hope that will lower the level of blood sugar in general.

    Sweetener question

@janetilett I have found the notes from the introduction study that I promised to come back to in my post #5. It might be a good idea to be careful with these sweeteners because they elevate ones level of blood sugar in the body: Fruktose Sorbitol Xylitol Mannitol Maltitol Laktitol Isomalt...

    Sweetener question

Yes, that's right, some are. I learned that at my introduction-study about how to live with my diabetes. If I find my notes, I shall come back and tell which one is dangerous and which one you can use, You can use Erythritol. That is natural and looks like sugar. You can even sweeten your tea...
