    Wolf run

It went pretty well thank you! I really had no idea what I was doing but it worked... I drank a bottle of lucozade before the run and the somehow managed to carry and preserve another bottle of lucozade through all that mud/obstacles! Drank that during the run... Also took one of my mates...

    Wolf run

Hi guys, I wonder if any type 1 has done the wolf run before? I'm type 1 and am due to due to do it on Saturday. My concern is I have no idea what to do during the wolf run. I almost certainly will need to stock up at some point, but because a lot of it is obstacles and in water, I won't be...

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

Well done clive! That's an amazing result. Does my head in when doctors say that. They think my hba1c result of 6.5 was too low. Absolute joke.

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

Doctors/nurses are doing my head in at the moment. My last hba1c was 6.8% and one nurse said that's too low!? Was absolutely fuming!! Whilst 6.8% is ok, I would definitely like to be lower. The ultimate aim of us type 1's (type 2's also of course) is to achieve levels equivalent to a...

Just signed up for a half marathon!

Haha I like that advise Alex 'just smash it'. Sounds good though, when I train I'm just going to start off with say 30 minutes running, see how it affects my BG level, then increase by say 10 mins and go from there! Can't let type 1 stop you from doing anything can ya eh!

Just signed up for a half marathon!

Hey! I've just signed up for the Coventry half marathon in February! I've ran a half marathon before (1hr 49) back in 2012, but that was before I had type 1. I'm quite fit as it is - I play football three times a week (1hr on Wednesdays and Thursday's), and then 1 hr and a half on match days...

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

6.8% as of today. A bit disappointed as my last one was 6.5%.

Calling all people who do intense exercise

That probably is the best way to find out whether it's my bolus or basal that's causing the hypos. Thing is, the last thing I want to be doing after intense exercise is depriving myself of food...

Calling all people who do intense exercise

I've had so many hypos the past few days! I have football training on Wednesday and Thursday evening (1 hour - intense), and I do parkrun (5km) on Saturday mornings. I'm usually on 10 units of lantus and I've kept it that way despite all this exercise. Anyway since Friday, despite having...

    Readings at diagnosis

There's something called the dawn phenomenon (read up on it), where your BG level takes a rise in the morning. That could explain why your BG levels are higher in the morning than before bed. And the more you sleep in, the higher your levels!

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

They say 6.5% or below is 'good control'. However a non-diabetics Hb1ac would not be this high, therefore whilst 6.5% is a good achievement for a diabetic (my previous result), for me it's not my optimal result. I want to be aiming for the 5%'s and get my levels as similar as a non-diabetic as I...

    Readings at diagnosis

@encore1332 you put on weight leading up to diagnosis? That's odd... I lost 2 and a half stone in 2 weeks. Diagnosed at Amsterdam airport , the day I was due to fly back after my year in holland! Was a split second away from putting my bags through and but something stopped me.. Dread to think...

    This might be difficult!

Don't think id want a type 1 girlfriend/wife, it's nice to have a break from diabetes talk sometimes.. I'd be worried that diabetes would govern most of our conversations! It won't be easy for my future girlfriend/wife to live with a type 1 but if she really loves me then she'll do her best to...
