    Just been told to shield

I was under the threshold for absolute risk which was 0.5% and think you are too even but I was put on the list because of the relative risk being 14 being higher than 10 but honestly think its a ridiculous way to sort it. My risk is still very low so it should just go off absolute risk and...

    Just been told to shield

My risk group was 37/100 but I've been told to shield. I found that the threshold recommended for shielding is >0.5% for absolute risk >10 for relative risk My absolute risk was 0.0014% as I'm only 21 but my relative risk compared to people the same age and sex was 14 so even though I have a...

    Huge spiking during the night

Hi, So I started on the Libre a month ago and has really helped me understand my levels when asleep. I used to be taking 18.5 units of Levemir before bed and then 13.5 on waking up but was going hypo overnight so now take 17 units overnight. I keep going high everyday from 9am onwards even...

    Managing at uni?

Hopefully it should be fine, I'm looking forward to it. Generally my control is good, hasn't been as good recently due to stress I think but it's getting better again.

    Managing at uni?

Thanks! That's a lot of useful information. Yeah I think the most difficult part will be initially getting into a new routine again like I have now which makes everything easier. I'm assuming you can sort it out so I can collect my prescriptions from a local pharmacy?

    Managing at uni?

Hi all Amrit here, I'm 18, finishing up at school and going to uni in September. Just wondered how people coped/are coping with managing whilst at uni? I imagine it's pretty similar but did you find anything to be more challenging? Also does anyone have a freestyle libre? I've thought about...

What does everyone use to carry their supplies around?

A question I've always wanted to ask, what does everyone carry their supplies around in? I normally take a small nike rucksack with me everywhere to carry my insulin, meter and hypo treatment. I've always wanted to use something smaller because taking a bag like that everywhere gets annoying but...

    Disability Discrimination Act

Hi thanks for the replies sorry I haven't been on for a while. I think what I'll do in the future is maybe declare it on the application depending on the type of job. If it's a job that involves a lot of physical tasks I'm note it but for the opposite I may not.

    Type 1: I admit defeat, I can't cope anymore!!

Hi I had this problem before and started to get worried as my ratios were so low. The solution I found was to change by basal rate which I'm not sure if you've done? I had to notch up the levemir by a few units but it did the job and brought everything under control.

    Disability Discrimination Act

I'm currently applying for a part time job to work alongside my studies at school. On the online application it asks 'The disability discrimination act (1995) defines a disabled person as someone with a 'physical or mental impairment which has substantial and long term effects on his/her...

The Hidden Killer. Type 2 Diabetes.

I'm T1 and have pretty good control but I'll be honest that scared me. I know the consequences of poor control but actually seeing it happen made me shiver.

    Cycling - Recommend bag/Saddle bag?

Hi, sorry this is quite an old thread but it seems of use to me. I go cycling a lot and need help with hypo treatments. What gels or treatments to you take with you? Stupidly, I've been carrying a rucksack with bottles of lucozade unaware of the fact that there are saddle bags large enough to...

    Do I have diabetes??

Hi, I'd day the symptoms that are obvious and became clearer to me once I was diagnosed were tiredness and needing to constantly go to the toilet. By tired, I mean I felt like I had no energy 24/7, even if I'd had a good night's sleep which I didn't feel like a while before I was diagnosed. I...

Back now, everything was fine, no questions asked. Just had my insulin in a clear bag and everything was left in my hand luggage with my letter from the hospital out. Thanks all!
