    Please be supportive to others

I’m pretty sure that’s not true. Type 2’s at least have a functioning pancreas and have the option of reversing their condition. If only we had that choice

    Please be supportive to others

I don’t think people are trying to be discouraging. It’s just that its very frustrating when people tend to put us all in the same category when in reality it’s two completely different conditions. Us type 1’s have an auto immune conditions, and if we were to contract COVID-19 it would probably...

Type 2 why not self isolate??

I hear the same thing on tv too. I don’t know is it’s true but they said that type 1’s have a weaker immune system than type 2’s so the virus would affected them worse. Also many kids have type 1’s as well to they have to keep that into consideration too.

Have you ever lied about having T1D...?

I tend to never tell people that I’ve got type 1 diabetes. When I do tell people I always get stupid questions such as ‘oh you’re so young how did you end up with diabetes’.Honestly it frustrates me so much to the point where I can’t be bothered to explain to people what the condition actually...

    In need for some advice

Hi, I’m a type 1 diabetic, and have been for the past 17 years or so. My last blood/urine test showed that I had some protein in my urine which was above the recommended level. So to protect my kidneys, and avoid diabetic nephropathy, I was prescribed blood pressure pills (can’t remeber the name...

I rotate my sites and have changed the pens several times. I make a correction before I have my breakfast and by lunch time my blood levels are back to normal.

    Does Tresiba actually work?

hi guys, I recently switched from Lantus to Tresiba due to the amount of hypos I’ve been getting. However ever since I started on Tresiba about 2 months ago I wake up most morning with really high blood levels between 15 - 20 mml. I always check my levels before I go to bed and most of the time...

How do I get an insulin pump

I wouldn’t even know who to contact to be considered for one, or to see if I fit the criteria. I’m so confused. My consultant in the past have offered me one, during my late teens. The nurses at my GP are so useless anyways, I live in Southampton if that helps lol

How do I get an insulin pump

Hi guys, I would really love to start using an insulin pump due to the amount of hypos I get. I’m a bit confused, spoke to my DN at my GP about it and she said that they don’t do referrals for pumps. I used to go to a young diabetes clinic at the hospital where I saw a consultant every 6 months...

    Help please

Thanks for all the advice. If worse comes to worse I’ll have no choice but to go on them. But I’m going to give myself 2 months to try and lower my bp naturally. I’m going to try and cut as much carbs and salt out as possible, and hope for the best.

    Help please

I’m a nursing student so I’m always on my feet doing long shifts, plus I’ve got a part time job so I’m always active. I’m going to try to cut down on carbs as much as possible and see if anything changes. If not I guess I’ve got no choice but to go on them, but I feel like I’m way to young to be...

    Help please

Hi, I’m kinda new to this forums, made my account a few years ago but hardly on this site. So I’m 27 years old and I’ve been a type 1 diabetic since I was 10. I had an appointment with my diabetic nurse regarding my recent blood test, my Hbc1a was 5.9, however I got told that there was protein...

    Pump users

My doctor advised me that I should consider getting a pump due to the amount of hypos I get. What I don't understand is how using a pump is any different to injecting. I understand that a pump delivers continuous basal insulin, and bolus to cover carbs. How is this any different from injecting...

    Ketone testing

I asked my doctor this the other day and got told that type 2's don't need to test for it as its very rare for them to be affected by diabetic ketoacidosis. Only type 1's could be affected by it.
