    Type 1: Diabetics. Family connection?

So technically my lad has a 5-12% chance, actually probably much higher based on @Contralto 's post - grim :nailbiting: - this subject does fascinate me though. My family has no history of any T1D (or auto-immune for that matter) but the Mrs' family has lots of auto-immune issues (inc. T1 for her).

Freestyle Libre Poll - Have you had a skin reaction ?

Yeah big reaction! By the 6th sensor I was in agony and ended up with red sores on both arms which took about 3 weeks to heal and basically scab over. I have no previous bad reactions to elastoplast or anything like that. I'm off the libre for now but it was very enlightening while i had it...

    Is anyone taking antidepressants?

I was on Mirtazapine 3 months before my diagnosis (Jan '15) and stayed on it for 6 months after. It did help me level-out, but even now i'm off them i still have bouts of depression. I was also doing counselling/CBT at the time, which helps too. I never had to deal with depression before. A...

    Freestyle Libre

I've literally just got it delivered today. I am very happy with it, good readings, not at all bulky, painless insertion. I'll have to see how it lasts over 2 weeks though.

    Honeymoon End Experiences

Curious about this, i'm 11 months in now and the units i'm taking still haven't had to increase. Does the honeymoon ending occur steadily or is it a cliff-edge-change?

What do you dislike most about diabetes? Is there anything you like?

Dislike hypos and lugging testing kit and pens around. Like that it has made me more organised and aware of food. I have a great love of cooking now because of that (something wife and boy benefit from too). I don't really miss the spontaneity as i have a little boy. That takes enough planning...

    Weights vs Carbs

Excellent suggestions thanks. I have an intro session in the next week or so. I'll look into whey protein, should i pre-prepare protein-based meals? Any suggestions for protein, chicken, fish etc?

    Weights vs Carbs

I'm thinking of starting a weight lifting program. I already exercise regularly but mostly cardio so i keep an eye on my levels (Type 1 MDI). Please can anyone give some general advice on bulking up without relying on carbs too much? Thanks Andrew

    Help

Something similar happened to my wife while pregnant. The important thing is to not panic! Your levels at the moment dont appear too high. Hopefully the blood test will confirm for you either way :)

    Forbidden treats..what are yours

Pasta (lots of pasta), cheesecake and occasionally a bag of haribo lol (hey the carbs are right there on the bag...). Seriously though anything i have to bolus 10+ units is probably something i shouldn't have and usually dont ;) I'm still learning
