Thanks for this - I've just watched it again. I do like what he says about the Eatwell plate....

    New Pre Diabetic

Welcome. I'm in the same boat as you and am so glad I found this site. I've lost some weight, though I wasn't overweight, and my blood glucose readings seem OK although I'll have to wait a few months before the next HBA1C test to confirm this. My general health has improved, too, with lower...

    Ooh BBC Breakfast News

I wonder whether his appearance will be put on Youtube? I'm trying to remember what he said - I can remember the words 'refined carbs' but am unsure whether carbs in general were mentioned. Even if he doesn't go as far as some of us would like re. LCHF, I feel things are heading in the right...

    A Nice cup of tea.

I like Orange Pekoe tea (which doesn't taste of orange!). It tastes OK with or without milk, as it's less bitter than most black teas.

Hello everyone, new 44 year old female Type 2 diabetic from Ireland

I haven't tried Chia seeds - but am sure someone round here must have! There are threads full of ideas and recipes, like this one - http://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/low-carb-recipes.4871/

Hello everyone, new 44 year old female Type 2 diabetic from Ireland

Yes, flax meal is expensive. I buy flax seeds (much less expensive) and put them into a cheap coffee grinder to turn them into flax meal.

    Where am i going wrong?

Maybe just try it again for a few days to see whether a pattern emerges?

    Where am i going wrong?

Maybe someone more knowledgeable can suggest a possible medical reason for this, but I wonder whether your weight increase has something to do with the amount of calories you are eating? Have you tried using My Fitness Pal? - https://www.myfitnesspal.com/ It gives you a good overview of the...

    Breakfast cereal

Aldi sell something called Harvest Morn Golden Linseed Crunch - carbohydrates are 2.6g per 25g serving. It is quite nice if you mix a small amount of it with Greek style yogurt. I think some of the egg meals suggested above are more filling, though - protein and fat seem to keep hunger at bay...

Avocados - unclear on carb content

My Carbs and Cals book shows an avocado, with stone removed, weighing 150g and says it has 3g of carbs and 287 calories. I hope that's right, because I've just eaten one!

Best LCHF lunch options on the high street?

You can buy small(ish) insulated lunch bags from some supermarkets and keep snacks which need to be kept cool in them. On the other hand, if you want to go into an eating place, then there are some very good suggestions from other posters here - I must make a note of them!

Newbie, trying LCHF but have a bit of a problem

I think you're probably right - I needed a better balance between carbs, protein and fat. Also a balance between how much I eat and the exercise. Hopefully I can start to build up the strength and stamina to return to something like my former level of exercise but for the moment I'm just...

Newbie, trying LCHF but have a bit of a problem

Following the advice given by various kind folks here, I've started drinking a lot more fluid (including a small amount of tea granules with dried milk) and snacking on nuts, pieces of cheese, or whatever I've brought for lunch - I might try adding a bit of dried fruit to the nuts. So far...

Newbie, trying LCHF but have a bit of a problem

No, I didn't retest - it would have been wiser, wouldn't it? I hope it might have been an inaccurate reading, although the meter is quick to give an error message if anything isn't right. I supposed at first the reading was a mistake, but given that I was feeling so awful at the time thought I...
