Hi, I also got diagnosed at the age 36 in dec 2014. Ofcourse you feel sorry for your self at the beginning, who woudn´t. You will do fine. Only adjustment realy for me is, that I have changed my diet drastically, from very high carb to low carb/high protein diet like doctor Bernstein is...
Hi, you should get checked out for type 1 antibodies (ICA,IAA,GAD,IA2) If you doctor is not supportive of this just get in done at a private lab, then you atleast will get your peace of mind...good luck!
thak you for your answer, 0.97NG/ML equals to 32nmol/L. The range is also important, so depending where your lab has it range for example my lab has it´s range from 0.13 - 0.87 and sometimes 0.21 - 1.05. So if we say your is the latter, yours would be 0.32 that is 11 points from bottom range, so...
Ok, is your c-peptide level still low ? my c-peptide level was 0.16nmol/L and normal range is 0.13-0.87 in this Lab. I am very interested in knowing what your c-peptide is today?
Hi Daniel!
Very interesting case! This christmas It will be 4 years since I got diagnosed as a type 1! Just like you I have had low c-peptide and strongly positive for GAD, ICA and IA-2. Thus far I have managed my diabetes with low carb and by this method I have normal HBA1c about 5% and this...
I was started on novomix, a mixed insulin. But this produced far to many hypos! I don´t like mixed insulins at all. I myself asked my doctor to prescribe me basal/bolus regimen whic he agreed to do.
Hi @Cageytigers! If you are eating very low carb, you could also take on the same strategy that I am using. I am currently using 8-10(depends on your personal profile) units of Lantus once a day injected at bed time. I some time take maybe 1 or 2 units of novorapid If i decide to eat a meal a...
Hi, im not six years in, but im in my fourth year! 10 units Lantus at night, and sometimes I take 1 or 2 units of novorapid but mostly it just basal insulin once a day for me. But if you suddenly need more insulin, and it keeps beeing this way I would ask for a c-peptide test then you would...
I am now in my fourth year as a type 1. And most of the time still just use 10 units of Lantus at evening. I also have a job as a electrical technician and I do move around all the time. I also tend to go low at my job. I have eaten low carb since diagnosis and my HBA1c have been between 4.9%...
I also listen to his monthly webinars. As I understand him he wants us to focus and treat our blood sugars rather than think about what kind of diabetes (type 1 / LADA)...treatment is very different between individuals, it all depends on how we approach our diabetes, food, exercise etc....
@sal18sam16
For breakfast I either eat Low carb buns: http://www.mycopenhagenkitchen.com/2015/11/15/fiber-bread-rolls-gluten-free-lchf/
or chia porridge http://www.mycopenhagenkitchen.com/2015/11/15/fiber-bread-rolls-gluten-free-lchf/
for lunch I typically eat Paleo Bread...
Diagnosed LADA dec 2014. Was put on mixed insulin straight away. Now I take 10 units of lantus before bed. my last c-peptide is in bottom range of normal 2 years after diagnosis, and my doctor told me that after 6 months I would have no residual insulin secretion. So I definitely think helping...
Hi Dana! To my untrained eye, this looks exacly what I had before diagnosis 2 years ago. It looks like pompholyx rash or when it peels it is called keratolysis exfoliativa. You should go to a derm and get a definite diagnosis.
take care
@Ian DP
You could try to ad Basal to your regime, starting out with small doses maybe 4 units before you go to bed then raise it until your morning values are in the desired range. I upped my Basal from 8 units to 10 when i was getting higher in the morning. Now I am mostly in the 4´s and low...
