Getting a bit obsessed with my meter!

Especially in the early days of being diagnosed I don't think you can test too much. From a cost point of view if you are testing for every meal the Freestyle Libre may be more cost effective

    FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

Changed the sensor 10 days ago (just before a weeks holiday) and have had high sugars whilst away. I have just done two blood tests (freestyle and accucheck aviva ) which gave me 5.0 and 4.8mml/l. The freestyle scan gave me 6.3 mmol/l, a variance of around 25%. Is this normal?

    FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

Taken me long enough but reading the threads regarding accuracy I have finally uploaded mt data on the accuracy of the Freestyle, for me the accuracy (generally) is almost perfect. New NICE Diabetes Guidelines just out

Just read the new guidelines and the statement 'quality of life' crops up very often. Surely it's the job of the NHS to keep us healthy and should be telling us what our blood sugars should be to achieve no additional risk rather than giving us numbers which are likely to lead to complications?

What Say Do I Have in my Medication?

It's protein weight (chicken, fish, pork), I have used protein as a 'filler' as I get the body off the carb crave

What Say Do I Have in my Medication?

There is an element of body building but only because the lower the body fat and the higher the lean body mass the more sensitive the body is to insulin.

    ideal levels advice plz

My targets are similar to Tim55. Your ideal levels should be individual based on what level of risk is acceptable (I believe blood levels should be low enough for the risks to be the same as a non diabetic). I believe NHS guidelines are too high and literature suggests the risk of complications...

    FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

I've used the Libre since November and have undertaken a number of control tests (I'll post the graph tomorrow) but it is generally accurate to 10% of the average blood sugar result. Remember every test has an error no no result is accurate.

What Say Do I Have in my Medication?

At the moment I can control blood sugars but what I am doing is unsustainable and will have no eat more carbs at some point in the future in order to remain a healthy weight (all parties tell me I need to ingest around 450g carbs a day to be healthy on a 3000 calorie diet - which is what I need...

What Say Do I Have in my Medication?

I've argued that as I am 38 I need to have tight control in order to reduce risks over the next 50 years If the glic is removed the A1C will jump to 50 (based on testing), so thought insulin would be more suitable to provide insulin only when needed.

What Say Do I Have in my Medication?

Hello all, I've been diagnosed for close to 12 months and have dropped by A1C to around the 34-40 mark (2g of metformin and 40mg glic a day) but cannot maintain my body composition (cannot get above 85kg and body fat is falling from 25% to around 17%). Whenever I speak to a nurse I am told I...

    FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

The main problem I have had with the adhesive is if I take the sensor off too quickly it takes the skin off. I've been disappointed with Abbott and have been thinking of moving to a cGM but really want to wean myself off them.

    Test strips stopped

There is a simple logic with providing strips to diabetics; 1) they have better control so cost the NHS less over their lifetime; 2) diabetics with better control contribute more in the nation There is no long term logic in the rationing. I buy my own strips as well as the NHS strips.
