Just tested at 5.2, 2 hours after my evening meal, now worried.

I started insulin injections on Tuesday, and have increased by 2 units every 3 days as instructed, so this morning took 14 units. Today I have recorded some of the lowest readings for ages, decreasing through the day to 5.2 half an hour ago, 2 hours after my evening meal (3 rashers of bacon, a...

How much alcohol do people drink per week

2 hours after 2 lamb chops, vegetables and gravy, followed by cheese and crackers, accompanied by 2 large glasses of wine and a 1 hour snooze on the sofa, i've just scored a 6.2, which is the lowest for ages. Is it the red wine??

How much alcohol do people drink per week

Glass or 2 of malt whisky most days, 1 or 2 bottles of red a week, the (very) occasional pint. Seems like a lot compared to other posters on here.

Type 2 starting on insulin....how soon before you saw an improvement in your bg levels...

As he is presumably T2, missing an insulin dose will not do any harm, its just his BG will be a little higher until his next dose. We are all in the same situation, though, its all a learning curve, but I take great comfort from the fact that im not on my own, and that there are others in a...

Type 2 starting on insulin....how soon before you saw an improvement in your bg levels...

The advice I was given was don't change my routine for a single reading, but if you get 3 low fasting readings you should discuss with your DN. Your partners readings are very similar to mine but don't forget a BG of 5.4 is somewhere near where you are aiming for so maybe the insulin is...

Type 2 starting on insulin....how soon before you saw an improvement in your bg levels...

I am in exactly the same position, similar weight, similar readings and started last Tuesday with humilin. My diabetic nurse advised me that it could be several weeks before I see any effect. I go up to 14 units on Monday so keep in touch so we can see how we are doing

Multiple symptoms relating to type 2 badly managed

I used to suffer from quite severe back pain, but read somewhere about statins causing similar problems, so I left them off for a month and guess what??? No pain since. Apparently there are alternatives to simvastatin nut they would not prescribe due to the cost. I,m waiting to see my GP to discuss.

Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Fasting was 10.3 at 7am, peaked at 11.8 2 hours later, dropped to 8.5 before a late lunch, back up to 11.6 at 6pm. I try and eat sensibly, but obviously not sensibly enough. Will try and increase exercise along with my meds, but I drive a desk so its hard to do during the day.

How did you feel about switching onto injections?

I was diagnosed as T2 14 years ago, and have been attempting to control by diet and tablets, but my bg readings have been gradually been increasing over this time to the point my fasting bg is around 9-12 generally and have now elected to take insulin injections. Its a decision that I have been...
