At what point can you safely say your bg is under control, and feel that you should ask doctor to take you off metformin?

Thank you all for your replies IT seems I am doing the right thing,but expecting too much progress too soon. I shall persevere.

I should add that I am losing muscle mass in my biceps and thighs.I am 68.
