    Road Traffic Accident

I don't know about physical trauma but my blood sugar rises with stress! Not by as much as yours has moved but blood sugar is affected by more than food choices!

    DLA

The thread is nine months old. No derailing. It's all about you now. What on earth is reforming the Tax Code?

The gold standard requires us to have gold. The labour government sold it all for next to no money. So if we adopted your economic policy we'd still have no money for DLa! There's no money may be wearing thin but you haven't once told me where you'd get money from? Let's be honest you couldn't...

Hmrc is tightening up. But the money doesn't magically appear over night. The country has a budget deficit and the government that had getting rid of that deficit was elected on the back of it. The original points are months old. I forget them and am not going to debate what that money should...

    Gout and type 2

There are alternatives to allopurinol I believe?

    Gout and type 2

Allopurinol can also cause male breast enlargement! I'd never need to leave the house!

    Diabetes type 2 and gout

Take allopurinol for gout. I have for 10 years. Not had a single attack. Carbs have nothing to do with gout. I'm fact most of the foods that raise uric acid levels are low carb. Controlling diabetes by diet is preferable but with gout just take the pill and never worry again!

2 hour postprandial readings:- 2 hours from start or finish of meal????

Just normal type two. I wasn't thinking about Rh When I replied originally. Do you have a point?

2 hour postprandial readings:- 2 hours from start or finish of meal????

Fair enough! Lots of people with old school T2 are very interested in minimising the spike too. Its all about what matters to individual.

2 hour postprandial readings:- 2 hours from start or finish of meal????

For me the spike Is irrelevant. Non diabetics spike it's how quickly one returns to some kind of normal that is important to me. Two hours is the standard.

2 hour postprandial readings:- 2 hours from start or finish of meal????

Just be consistent. It doesn't really matter I don't think, so long as you are.

Not diabetic anymore??? Confused as heck :(

I agree. But one size fits all advice is easy to dish out. The majority of the population won't engage with diabetes like people on the forum do so they best advice of eat to your meter won't work. Giving advice that isn't the best but will have the biggest overall improvement on the population...

Not diabetic anymore??? Confused as heck :(

Porridge is fine for lots of people though! Everyone is different. Which is a tricky thing to provide advice on as a gp!

It's 6.5 not 6. But a standing ovation for everything else you've said!

    % of reversals?

Sometimes you end up in an actual box!
  18. mikej1973

    % of reversals?

Your rant would better placed in a carb v no carb threat. This is about the likelihood of reversing diabetes.
  19. mikej1973

    % of reversals?

I can eat anything now without losing control of my blood sugar. If I put the weight on I've lost I suspect I'll lose control again. But I have no symptoms of diabetes. I consider myself in remission rather than reversed but there a debate about the English language!

    Dont know how to feel.

That's a very fair point. I think my carb intake is now normal but reduced from being carb very heavy! And sugar is an occasional treat food. I do occasionally indulge in heavy carbs but the fundamentals of my diet have changed.
