Clarks are my go-to brand of shoe. I need to wear dress shoes for work and they offer attractive, comfortable options. I'm on my feet a good deal, so comfort is a must.
At home, it's Skechers or boots on the winter.
I have three kids 11, 10, 3. They eat what I eat, but maybe a few extra carbs.
If breakfast is eggs and bacon, I may add a slice of toast for them.
I eat my yogurt plain, but add fruit to theirs.
For lunch, I eat my delight rolled into lettuce, but may include bread with theirs.
For...
I'm sorry that happened. It's hard not to take her words to heart when you know this lifestyle works for you.
Let's talk surgery. :) It's true that you should heal with optimum results if your blood sugar is in normal range. However, since surgery itself can create an inflammatory response in...
@Oldvatr I was advised to eat within the same carb allotment that was suggested to you. I could easily eat 100-150 grams/day and maintain my BS's, *if* I continued to take hypoglycemic medication. My goal was to eliminate medication and control my diabetes with diet. Considering that I had an...
Cabbage Sausage "Stuff"
Sauté a head of chopped cabbage in bacon fat with minced garlic. Can add onions too, if you feel so inclined. Once the cabbage is softened, throw in sliced, uncured Italian sausage (already cooked) with some Italian spices, salt, and pepper. Continue to cook until the...
I eat between 20-25 net carbs daily, but still need to eat to my meter. There are just some foods that cause me to spike, even though they are within my daily carb limit. I still test when I try a new food or if I am feeling off. I expect it will always be that way, as I want to know what is...
@andreaabbott1 PLEASE stop taking ownership over your husband's choices. Just prepare LCHF meals for your family and if your DH makes a store run once a week for sweet snacks, let it go. Don't get mad, but rest assured that you are doing your part to offer healthy dinners for your family. YOU...
Ditto @Chook . I take Metformin only , but I never experience highs/lows. I eat to my meter and choose foods that do not cause a spike (or consequently a fall).
For me, that is key. I expect that if I continued to take Metformin, but increased my carb intake, I would experience more fluctuation...
Yes! Some days, I am more hungry, so I eat more. Other days, I am not as hungry, so I eat less. I find that I naturally follow a eat more, eat less, eat more, eat less sort of feeding pattern. In the end, it all seems to even out.
I take Metformin. I eat vlc, so I don't notice the side effects as much as I did when I first started low carb and was still eating carby, but lower carb foods. If I increase my carbs, I seem to notice the side effects a bit more.
The breath thing? Yeah, that lasted for a few weeks and then...
The longer I do low carb, the less I want sugary things. However, I do still have them, especially on special occasions when I want to enjoy a treat too (Thanksgiving).
For the most part, I use liquid stevia and Swerve (granulated). I did purchase some SF coffee syrups that I can use in coffee...
Ahhh...ketchup. I have tried the Heinz Reduced Sugar one above and it is pretty good.
Pinterest has some homemade versions of SF ketchup that you can make yourself. I haven't tried one yet, but I am tempted.
I'm sorry @copey399 , but your post made me chuckle...heartily.
Cooking/Baking low carb is an adventure, isn't it?
Try this bread. I like it better than the oopsie bread. http://cavemanketo.com/faux-bread-quest-flax-buns/
I think toasting any LC bread makes it better. If you leave it "as is"...
