Is There Any Cereal That Is Ok To Eat For Breakfast.

I'm a porridge eater. Just had to reduce portion size. Yes its carby, but its filling and I don't then want to snack. I also go for home made muesli. My better half has concocted a recipe that's way less carb than the shop bought stuff, and tasty. Shreddies I find seem to be relatively filling...

    A wobbly day.

How long after taking the tablet did it hit. I'm taking mine at breakfast but really struggling in late afternoon/early evening.

    A wobbly day.

I'm still trying to work out if they're false or real. From what I've read false hypos occur after a rapid drop or if you're generally high. I *rarely* see the wrong side of 7. 9 times out of ten I test in low 5's, or low to mid 6s after a meal. Last 2 Hba1c's have had me at 32mmol/mol which is...

    A wobbly day.

Had a proper scare today. Feeling a bit wuzzy, measured at 4.2, so had some toast to tide me over till teatime and went to do a bit of shopping. Half way round JS and I need the trolley more for support than holding groceries, and within minutes I'm feeling faint, tingly scalp concentration...

    Metformin Dosages Std vs SR

I've just had a prescription renewed and I've been moved off std onto SR. I don't mind as this seems better, and my stomach has been bad, but I hadn't actually got round to asking yet, so I'm not sure why its happened. Anyway, to cut to the chase, I was on 2x 500mg std tablets and I've been...

    Yuck feeling

    How's it going now? Any improvement?. I think mine's easing a bit. I'm on day 6 @ 2 x 500mg.

Just swapped from Gliclazide to Met, feel so ill.

6 days in and its a bit better. debilitating cramps haven't appeared in the last two days, I just have a background quesiness at the mo. Blood glucose is still maybe a bit higher than I was but its only around 0.5 up so I'm not worried on that front. Just want to feel normal. My BMI is 26 and...

Just swapped from Gliclazide to Met, feel so ill.

Hi all. Back again. Its all change for me, consultant #1 who was adamant I was type 1, (wanted me on insulin but compromised on Glicklazide) has retired. New (locum) consultant 90% sure it isn't. Has put me on Metformin instead. 5 days in and I feel so ill. He swapped me over to give my beta...

Requesting info on Ibuprofen and Gliclazide

Yup. Nothing on the Ibuprofen link, and only a 'may interact with NSAIDs' on the gliclazide one. Same story as everywhere else. Hard for people to make informed decisions with no information.

Requesting info on Ibuprofen and Gliclazide

Anybody know what happens if you take these two together? I'm on a low dose of gliclazide and I've wrenched something in my back. Would normally have reached for Ibuprofen, but I see its on the 'may have interactions' list. But there's no more info. Anybody know? Ta Karl

    Why Not Type 2?!?

Interesting. I wonder though if the doc is paying enough attention to my sudden change in diet. I've gone from 3-4 cans of coke, the odd flapjack n choccy bar, a day plus heaps of pasta n rice to now a 150g/day of carb diet. He's maybe thinking the gliclazide is really working, whereas I think...

Swapping from MR to 'Normal' Gliclazide. What to expect.

I've just been taken off a 30mg MR tablet and put on a 40mg normal one. Can anyone tell me what's this likely to do to my BG readings. Most concerned about evenings when MR would theoretically still be active, but normal probably isn't. Ta. Karl

    Why Not Type 2?!?

I thought 43 was too old for MODY too. I was on one 30mg Gliclazide MR tablet but he's just swapped me onto a single 40mg normal Gliclazide tablet. I'm a bit worried my post evening meal readings are about to go up. I'm on ~50g carb per meal and goinf from 4.7 ish before to 6.5 ish after at the...

    Why Not Type 2?!?

Seriously confused now. I have diabetes, but that's as far as I've got with any certainty. Initially I see my GP and he says type 2. This seems to make sense to me. I'm 43 and was a little overweight (just nudging the obese line on the NHS chart), have been for a while, and I have a largely desk...

Reheating chilled pasta (&rice), anyone tried it?

Just a quick update. Tried it with two identical chilli n rice meals on two consecutive days. 4.8 to 6.6 on day one, 4.7 to 6.0 on day two after chilling. Need to repeat I think. Meter accuracy could be a factor with such narrow margins.

Reheating chilled pasta (&rice), anyone tried it?

The article and most of the other stuff I've read suggests overnight refrigeration.

Reheating chilled pasta (&rice), anyone tried it?

I've just read this, after seeing a similar report on rice. It sounds helpful. Anyone tried it? http://www.medicaldaily.com/healthy-meal-cooking-and-cooling-pasta-changes-starch-quality-cut-calories-fat-307300 Karl

    Reducing meds

Having to reduce the carbs anyway now. Not going to ruin all my good work so far. Wondering how I'll fare on holidays or days out though. I've noticed now we live in a carb fuelled world. Where do I get a filling sub 30g carb lunch when I don't make it myself? Karl

    Reducing meds

Well its been a month, started with a fasting glucose level of 17, and a doc that said 'You've got type 1', and two plus a nurse who think its type 2. I spent a week on 30mg Gliclazide slow release, then upped to 60mg. All seems to have gone well, I've reduced my total carbs to around 150g per...

Refused blood meter to monitor blood sugars

Hiya. Sorry to hear you haven't been given a meter. My practice told me to go and buy one on day one and I've been on prescriction strips since my first box. They're still trying to work out if I'm type 1 or 2, and they put me on Gliclazide which is maybe why I got the meter, and I'm thankful...
