    My first couple of readings we're fairly high if I remember correctly 13.4 & 11.9. But when I had my 'annual' check last year she said I was obviously doing things right having lost 2.5st in the first year and my blood sugar level was down to 7.3. I take metformin and watch what I eat, sugar...

    I was diagnosed 2yrs ago now and I've never self tested, I was told by my diabetic nurse that it wasn't necessary for me to do it. And yes I too am on metformin. I have only had 2 checks since being put on the tablets exactly 2yrs to the day! Is this how it should be?

    Depends how good the dinner is as to whether I lick the plate or not lol. Yes I do tend to nibble on the veg whilst preparing it.

    Well guys, went to clinic with father in law yesterday and it wasn't really the news we wanted to hear. His kidneys are beyond repair and what with his heart problems has been told they expect him to live another 18-24 months. His phosphate levels are low, and needs a low potassium diet as well...

    Drinking enough is my downfall, I never drink enough! Dr's think they know what we should be but I'm the same I've never been tiny, always been bigger than average as have my parents so I'll never get where the Dr wants me to be!

    Just feels like I've hit a brick wall though, I rarely eat bread, and if I do its 50/50 coz the kids don't like wholemeal so we compromise with that. But I guess its all the other carbs

    Need to lose weight, I have lost almost 3st in 2yrs since being diagnosed with type 2, but its not good enough. My gp says I need to lose more having now been diagnosed with a hip complaint after trapping a nerve earlier in the year. I seem to have hid a high hurdle I cant get anymore weight off...
