    Exercise on prescription

Darn, fab idea... wonder if I can get Gubnant to fund multiple sessions of weekly fencing, mask and jacket and steel replica military sabre.. could do with a kayak as well. I'll make a list and have a chat with nersey.

    Any tips for this newbie?

Well thank you! That looks like the most fuzziest mutt ever - I suspect the little houndlet is taking his humans for a walk and likely more in their squirrel duties?!

    Any tips for this newbie?

Thanks for sharing - perhaps not exactly the same; for me I know I am not doing well with the carbs when my finger joints begin to hurt. Exercise = endorphins = pleasure and I certainly ascribe to the firm assertion that those with diabetes deserve pleasure :) because it can be a real pain in...

    Any tips for this newbie?

Exercise, whatever takes your fancy, something known or something new? It chews up the carbs, amongst other things. My experience is starting slow n easy and go where the most enjoyment comes from.

    Understanding Food Labels

And perhaps more serious and something that reminded me this week, labels are important sure. But as I sat down with fellow kayakers and watched them order food at the pub.. geeesh the size of the portions?! I celebrated with yum whitebait and a side of chips (yes folks C-H-I-P-S) because it was...

...though I haven't tried correcting the labels with a crayon... that is a possibility...hmmmm

    Understanding Food Labels

Some tips: spending 20 min sessions in the crisps and choc supermarket aisles comparing labels only attracts the security guard. And besides, they all read basically the same, except 85% or higher cocoa plain dark choc bars. Repeating the same exercise over the weeks is futile, the readings on...

    newbie story so far

Thank you, diabetes, like fencing, for me is a challenge. In a strange way, again my experience, it has offered opportunities and I am enjoying them and the results; my mood is better, I feel more alert and confident. I have to be careful and look after myself and it can be a pain - I mean, is...

    newbie story so far

Wow, what a story, thanks for sharing. I have experienced something similar but with a twist :) I got to a point in 2015 where the nurse said, yup come off the Metformin. And I interpreted that as "cured, eat anything and ease off exercise". Er..um.. ah, nooo guess, what? Weight back on, levels...

Help - Unusually High Readings. Type 2

Well, my beloved diabeps (may I call us that?) I sat myself down and remembered I had my first NHS steampunk wind-up meter and I thought, well, for the cost of a test strip, lets wheel it out and set it up on its tripod and give it a go and blow me down with a test strip, I was seeing the comfy...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Freakin' 15... wot, I mean wot [shaking meter]?!! you tricky little diabetes begger. If this is related to getting Windows 10 to operate I am personally going over to Redmond, WA and shove meter and un-opened test strip containers right up Bill Gates somewhere where the sun don't shine.. it is...

Help - Unusually High Readings. Type 2

Thanks for the replies, I have been ill but feel better. Getting back to old grumpiness, dry mouth.. hmmm, perhaps eating too much rye bread and fruit, will adjust and see what happens, then off to the doc / nurse. I sorta assumed things would be rather predictable after a while and not jump...

Help - Unusually High Readings. Type 2

Hi, hoping for some insight and advice. Type 2, taking Metformin and Glicozide and was doing really well (last blood reading 47 HbA1c) but since then my readings have been higher than usual - nothing really has much changed, cycling a bit every day, diet low carb but am losing weight yet my...

newly diagnosed, physically ok, sugars ok but mentally not good

Hi, just my experience: its a roller-coaster and the [partial] loss of things was and is hard and going through the NHS mill of understandings things better and making new choices I have found to be daunting. I mean, olives and pork scratchings a treat? Really, no way?! So, the new Ben & Jerrys...

NOT THE BEST WAY TO PROMOTE DIABETES MANAGEMENT!!!!

And then look real hard to make sure there are no free samples of caramel dipping sauce because it would be real impolite not to slather each bite-sized piece with Dr Wzrysinki;s recommendation from the University of Goober that this combo is a wholesome addition of quite the most perfect low GI...

NOT THE BEST WAY TO PROMOTE DIABETES MANAGEMENT!!!!

There is an Auntie Anne's pretzel stand in my local mall. They have the habit of offering little bite-sized freshly cooked cinnamon pretzels coated in some sort of grainy white substance that is sweet, I cannot think what this substance is. Sometimes, they leave the sample tray unattended...
