    Has the Libre improved your control?

    I was given one free when I visited the hospital consultant about 2 years ago and YES it's done the job perfectly as my Hbac1 has gone below 50 for the last two blood test.I had my meter go faulty and Abbott changed the reader within 2 days Great service

    Cant find a cereal that doesn't shoot my blood sugar right up!

    Tes ,thats a problem I face . After 60 years following the same cerial breakfast and no problems at all till now. In the last year I have suddenly found my glucose level shoot up to 12 to 15 when before I kept in a more suitable range 8 to 10 for a short time

    Yes, I did ,it started with a sore throat which the doctor said it was tonsilites ,but then after a recovery ? I started losing weight and body mass then it hit me when I went to the hospital to see why I was losing weight

    After 60 years as a T1 ; I have had pain in my feet for the last 15 years and it's under control because I am om "LYCRA" which dampends the nerve signals to the brain.

    Yes I did, at the age of 14 I came down with ,what the GP said was a sore throat and perscribed me with syrup medication with did not help as I lost weight very fast until diagnosed at the hospital in Bangor North Wales 60 years ago

    Yes , I had a throught infection 60 years ago this November and then went on to Type 1 , it was called Diabetes mellitus at that time 60 years ago!

    How many times do you check it?

    I was checking up to 10 times a day with finger pricking but now I have the Libre system and I can check as often as I like . I would try and get the Libre or another system that allows you to check glucose levels as often as you like

    Appointments during Covid-19

    The contacts I have had are by telephone ,both diabetic and COPD and Kindey clinics and the blood site has moved out of the hospital and has moved to a room at Argyle soccer ground. Easy to park

    Hi , hope all are safe? As ti which type of insulin I have had ,they start of as porcien and then on to Novarapid and levimer , one a fast acting and the other slow release and after 59years and 10 months still breathing!

    As to your first post, you do not mention were you are in the world,that is if I have missed it? The libre system is freely available for all diabetics on insulin at zero cost all supplied by the NHS as mine has been now for 18 months since I first started using the device

    The cost is rising because we are getting older and as diabetics we would not have lived long but with better meds and treatment we are living longer as I am because when diagnosed in 1961 the life was not great but now I'm 73 and living quite well but using meds a lot
