So I take fiasp when I have meals/food and I take my lantus twice a day as it’s long acting. I never take them at the same time and I do them different sides of my body. I was told they don’t...

    Fast800 and LADA

Hi Thank you for the response, it’s good you are getting tested, it took me having DKA and admission to hospital before I convinced them that I was not type 1 (Also that I lost weight to a BMI of 18). I hate that I think about food all of the time now... prep for work, making sure I take a...

Type 1 Type 1 and weight gain

Hi I’m in the same position so watching for advice. Everything I read says it’s insulin that’s causing it doh, but what to do about it. The dietician says any diet will work ‍♀️ Then I’m told to increase the insulin ratio. I’m so miserable! Hopefully we can get some advice on here - I’ve started...

    Frightened of food!

Wow thank you for this response, yes the replies have been so helpful. I arranged an appointment with the DN for 8 am this morning before I start work - no call. The difficulty for me is that they call randomly and I am a community psychiatric nurse so cant take calls when working. I have...

    Frightened of food!

I was reading some threads about fasting and noticed all the ones I read were type 2, wondered how type 1 managed this? I work 9-5 and a lot of driving so I’ve been avoiding hypo by keeping higher than 7 (I know it’s 5 but sometimes an appointment takes longer than planned and I can finish late)

    Insulin Affecting Weight Loss

I haven’t read all the way through this thread but i was treated as type 2 for 5 years despite my protests that i thought i was type 1, with a long list of supporting factors. GP refused to do the test so eventually ( when my weight plummeted and i had pressure areas on my knees and sacral...

    Frightened of food!

I am having a difficult time at the moment, much like many people. I’m feeling overwhelmed. After 5 years of being told i am type 2 and arguing that this didn’t fit, i was diagnosed with LADA a bit over a year ago. Initially i had some hospital appointments but these were stopped due to the...

Panic about what to eat, starting insulin this week

Hi jMoli just wondering how you are getting on? I posted a reply a while back now as I was diagnosed with LADA in January. My weight loss took me to just around the 18 BMI and I was skinny with extra skin. I put on a stone initially at was happy with this but then lockdown hit and I was working...

Anyone doin One Meal a Day (OMAD)

Wow I’m still trying to learn, after reading about type 2 and then having my diagnosis changed. What do people eat as their one meal? And how do you transition to this?

    Type 1 and weight loss

Hi did I read this right? You eat once a day? I’m newly diagnosed LADA and put on more than 2 stone since January when I was BMI 18 (drastic weight loss), but I’m struggling and lockdown hadn’t helped. I seriously need to address this .

Critical illness cover - does it exist for Type 1?

Hi, I was diagnosed with type 2 a few years ago and finally had this reviewed and confirmed type 1. I have a current mortgage, life insurance and 2 years left on my critical illness cover. I have recently looked at reviewing my mortgage but don’t seem to be able to get any critical illness...

Panic about what to eat, starting insulin this week

Hi I had my diagnosis confirmed today after blood tests taken when I was admitted to hospital with ketones. I’ve struggled to try to manage my ‘type 2’ for 5 years and recently dropped two dress sizes in 6 weeks. I started to look like a skeleton. I started insulin when I went in to hospital...

LADA, awaiting results - exercise advice

Well the LADA has been confirmed today and I mentioned exercise at my review, I was told to take extra insulin to manage any glucose pumped out. I did Zumba on Sunday, my readings before were 27 mmols/L as I’d had breakfast and only just injected the rapid, after 30 mins cardio it was 13, albeit...
